Question about 3" DP

Ok, I got my 3" DP installed. Took me 6 hours! Might be less but anyways, I had to run around town to find parts because the DP and Cat-delete is short about half an inch so I either let my Evo sit for a couple of days or get a flange and use it as the adapter so I can bolt the exhaust pipe to the Cat. Could not find any so I bought a universal 3 hole flange. The sad thing is the pipe from the Cat to the Exhaust is only 2.5"!!! Now I have to find the 3" pipe to make it all 3". I guess whoever owned my Evo before only get the Works exhaust. Not the whole catback. But the Evo is up and running.

My main concern is that the DP sits really close to the Oil Pan and the Tranny. Is that going to be any issue? I just started the Evo up and I can feel the DP is hot. Any suggestion?

Got it from eBay. The seller is EBStores. Is all 3" DP suppose to be close to the Oil Pan?

Yea. 3" is a pretty big pipe, dude. I have one myself (Tanabe) and at idle you can hear it hit against something (I assume its the oil pan, but haven't really investigated it). Its nothing that some stiffer engine mounts shouldn't fix. Other than a minor annoyance, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'm just a little worried about long distance trip that the pipe might get too hot and it might burn the oil inside the pan. Do you guys think that's a possible issue?

i just finished worrying about the same thing so i went to a few exhaust shops to ask about jet hot coating but they all said to not wast my money cuz it wont do that much and he also made the point that all the old V8's had their hedders going right by the oil pans and never had trouble so i just ended up installing mine

I have no problem with mine....

You can actually get decent things on ebay, however I dont believe a DP is one of them. The bends need to be positioned perfectly and at the right angles or it wont fit properly. I'd say cut your losses and get a Megan DP, which isn't incredibly expensive and fits perfectly.

Thanks guys. I feel much better now. I suppose for that reason, I should change my oil every 2500 miles instead of 3000.

It fit fine except that both the DP + Cat-delete is about half inch away from the pipe that goes to the exhaust. I'll wait and get the 3" HKS catback. If it's still short, then I'll cut my loss and go for something that will fit correctly. Thanks for your input IXmr321.
