There's not doubt the IX is superior than the VIII in many aspects, but this is not the case with the ones that you mentioned.

i'd go with the ix... looks better you get mivec etc etc
search edmunds and cars.com and search the car you want. read what they have to say about it.... i'm still doing that

its been said before but:

stock for stock and mod for mod the IX is just plain faster.
