Planning on buying (real soon) a 2005 evo 8 or 2006 evo 9. I dont know which one to choose. I have a moderately modded 03...please weigh in....and btw i will mod of course!

 

Depends on the price, and condition of the car.

If I were in your shoes I'd be willing to spend more for the IX. The IX has a few advantages over the VIII.

 

Price isn't a issue. What are some advantages over the ix (like the mivec for example)

Get the IX

 

You have a 2003 already? the only issues with the 03 are the tcase, trans, and turbo that i know of.

Buying an 05 would just be insanity. buying an 06 would be nice. but not nessacary. once u get into upgraded turbos and built drivetrain. There is hardly, if any difference between an evo8 or evo9.

My advice to you, keep the 2003. Pay it off. Then mod it to hell.

 

yeah i have already had issues with my 03. (tcase and trans...came after new turbo and tune). 03 is payed off already but im in the market for a new one except the 10...but you mention an 05 is insanity...what do you mean by that?

 

and why the 9...please elaborate...

If you didnt already have an evo id say go for the IX, but I think he gave you the smartest answer your gonna get.

If you are asking why people are giving you the responce that they are, the answer is that once you start modding the cars to a certain point there isnt a big difference. Also it costs money to change cars, especially trading them in. You probably wont get as much for yours as you want and pay more for the new one than you want to. For example just in book value the IX is worth around 8k more than your car. Is the 8k worth a few more hp???? How much more power could you make with your car if you give it to BR or AMS and say heres 8k make it faster???

And as far as gettin an 05, its the same car and will cost you around 5k.... just to say you have a couple year newer car... not a good financial decision

 

Just the seats alone are enough for me to buy the 9 over the 8.
