ACT clutch kit with the flywheel or no flywheel.

hi everybody.
ok. i found out couple weeks back that my stock clutch was slipping. so ever since i've been doing a lot of research. i see that most people are using ACT clutches and they love it.

my questions is that should i get just the ACT clutch kit or should i get the ACT clutch kit with the flywheel. i know i can resurface the stock flywheel but is it a good idea to do that?

thanks everybody.

A friend had his stock resurfaced with his ACT, and so far no problems. I went a bought the ACT street and the xACT flywheel cause i figured since i was getting the clutch done, might as well get the flywheel done too. Just preference, i guess. At least I won't have to worry for another 50K to 100K miles from now.

Nah you'll be just fine. You're not even taking that much off the surface. When I had mine done the shop said my flywheel looked pretty much new and that was after 30,000 mi. The sock clutch can't take that much abuse with launching and all. Especially if you can't launch that well. But the sotck flywheel is pretty stout.

Just a side note, the ACT street disc is organic and not that rough on your flywheel...

I got a question, do you guys feel a significant difference when you put in the lighten flywheel? Does the engine rev much quicker?

I had a lighten flywheel in my MR2 and whenever I come to a stop, the revs drop so quick that the engine stalls. Does this occur with the Evo?

I have the ACT MB7 XTSS clutch, xtreme pressure plate with the sprung, full faced disc....and installed it with the stock clutch.

if I had to do it all over again I would have gotten the lighter race flywheel from ACT

most people just get the stock resurfaced when getting the ACT clutch, but i recommend just shelling out the extra $$$ for the flywheel. it's usually cheaper in the long run cause u can get those both done at the same time, and you'll have little down time. most vendors sell the combo pretty cheap.

Save time and $$$ and get it done at the same time, cause I know you'll want to get one (flywheel) down the road.

My installer/shop who is going to do my clutch job (ACTHDSS) has said going with the ACT lighter flywheel will slow spool any truth to this? He said it's best for a turbo car to go with the stock one new or resurfaced
