AMS or Buschur Ported & Polished Race Head???

I have a gt35r turbo kit with an ams 2.3 liter stroker kit. and I was wondering what head I should go with. AMS race head or Buschur stage 3 race head. With the AMS I would probably use JUN 272 or S2's cams and with the Buschur I would probably use the BF 272 cam. I just want a head that will work well with my setup. I've heard that oversized valves (like in ams head) aren't always a good thing.

let me know what ya'll think.

Thanks

BTW the reason I listed so many different cam options is because with a 2.3 liter stroker engine your rpm's are limited. SO thats why I'm unsure if I need a cam that moves all my power up in the power band or not.

The hands down best headport guy is right here in Il, Headdynamics And his work blows AMS and buschur's away. Big shops have prettu much one generic port for everyone, Headdynamics will spend time talking to you about what your goals are and custom taylor a head for you. One of the few people left in the industry who take great pride in their work. I can post pics if need be.

Just take note on your head choice, if you have an o-ringed block from AMS which is a very common option, a Buschur stage 3 race head is o-ringed by default so you would have to opt to not have that part done, if deemed incompatible. However confirm with David first if you go that route.

Personally either choice is great, JUN and BF272 have proven themselves over and over. No experience with S2, but my personal car has all AMS (built 2.0 and race head etc. etc.) options and JUN cams, and a good friend of mine is all Buschur parts (built 2.0 and race head etc. etc.) with JUN cams and I tuned them both myself. We are almost identically setup from cams to the turbo (AMS vs. Buschur kits but same turbo) and the cars make almost the exact same power. In fact we will literally sit side by side on a pull and trap the exact same speed in the 1/4 mile.

Me being a 2.3 liter and using something like JUN cams. would I be able to take advantage of a cam like that since my rpm's are more limited than a 2.0?

also No I don't have an o-ringed block. I ordered the stroker kit from AMS and built it myselft. I couldnt find a machine shop around here that I trusted to o-ring my block

Absolutely! AMS made huge gains on a 2.3L and a 42R switching to JUN 272 cams on a customer car a while back.

I had an AMS 2.3L with a 37r kit and JUN 272 cams, and it was a monster for the time it lasted. I had a bearing issue (faulting bearing determined by AMS) so I then went with a 2.0L.

BTW here is another interesting thread about choosing a head. It talks some about valve sizes in there.
