Diff. between fuel tank 03 Evo 8 vs. 06 Evo 9
Thought i had read somewhere that they were different in size/capacity but not 100%.
Is it a direct swap?
Does anyone know
Thank you!

From what I remember Evos have always had a 14 gallon tank ever since I started reading about them when they first came to the US. People always complained that the tank was too small. Not sure about them being the same dimensionally but why would Mitsubishi change it for the Evo IX?
I think it's the JDM Evo VIII/IX's that had smaller tanks. Like 8-10 gallon takes because of their AYC system. Don't ask me why that would make the tank smaller but I remember reading that it was smaller, probably pumps went there or something.
Which is one reason we didn't get AYC, that and the AYC systems were breaking way too much to be worth it to Mitsubishi to have a 100,000 mile warranty on them.

Thanks for the replies fellas
Now if they are the same capacity wise......does anyone know if i remove the oem one out of my 9 if the older one from the 8 will bolt right in and accept the fuel pump assembly as well as have all the same line connections?

as stated make sure to drain BOTH sides. theres a 12mm on the drivers side and passenger side.
make sure you remove the sending unit, feed, return line, and filler neck as well as the little plastic clip connectors that go to the charcoal canister
