why even take the spare out for normal drving. I mean its not that heavy at all, I can see taking it out for racing but not for any other reason

Thats where amps go!I have my 2 amps down there and the cardboard fits perfect over them.

My RS trunk is gutted to begin with, it only came with the trunk floor carpet, cardboard floor and spare tire/tools. I took all that out and the entire trunk is bare metal.

I leave it like that to drive around town, I like to keep the car as light as possible. Figure stock curbweight is 3219lbs and with all that out I'm around 3180lbs.

On long trips I just put the spare/tools in though.

Everything is out for daily local driving. If I go on a trip I put the spare, jack, tools back in the trunk.

If you keep good condition/quality tires on your car, having a flat tire is extremely unlikely.
