sorry noob question im sure....
weight reduction, front mount intercooler, etc

This is how I see it ..... has brembos for stopping, has great factory suspension and handling PLUS AWD, and can accelerate out of bad situations.

they take out the front beam or modify it for a larger fmic. as for the rear beam, you have to remove it to install the jdm rear bumper

I wouldn't worry about it too much...just drive safely and defensively. My little girl loves the Evo, but I don't horsewhip the car when she is in it.

I take my three boys in my Evo all the time. I guess I just dont worry about getting in an accident. Of course I dont drive stupid with them in the car either. As for crash ratings. I drive a four door 500 whp subcompact car in the land of the Ford F250.

These cars are much safer than the cars 10 yrs back, and somehow the majority of the population made it through those dark years. Also my son cries when we drive in the camaro instead of the evo. I went to look at speed3's w/ him and asked him if he liked it, he said "I don't like it, I like the evo." He's three, my kid rocks, I hope he likes the new ralliart half as much.

lol That was pretty much my point exactly! I don't mean to laugh, I'm just saying. One thing I can say about the lifted truck driving crowd is that ever since gas prices have gone up, I've seen less of them speeding around not worrying about running little cars off the road.

I strap my son in the middle. I figure it gives him more buffer on either side if we were to be hit from the side. It was only the side rating on the Evo that was not that great so it makes me feel a little better that he is in the middle.

Has anyone confirmed that the poor side rating is for the Evo and not the base lancer?

all about driving. ive avoided 2 accidents by being aware. good brakes help us out. awd helps us out. and being fast can help in certain scenarios. its no ford excursion buts im sure its better than driving a civic hatchback. if i had kids i would still take them places in my evo. safe driving!
