kid in Evo?
kid in Evo?
Im looking forward to purchesing my Evo but i've seen the Evo 8 & 9 score 2 stars on crash rating tests...i may b wrong though. just wanted to ask those who have a kid(s) is the Evo 8 or 9 Safe enough? has this thought every came up? get what im trying to get at? sorry if i didnt explain myself well enough...thanks
The Evo has no side airbags, and unfortunately, many people are driving on the street with the front and/or rear crash beams removed.
It's not the safest vehicle on the road, but surely not the most dangerous either... providing you drive safely with kids in the car!

I believe that neither the Evo nor Ralliart were actually tested. Those NHSTA numbers are from the base lancer. The Evo is heavier, wider and the 05+ cars have crash beams in the doors. I would expect it to do better.

I think NO car is safe when traveling 70 mph into a collision. It all depend on the driver and what they do with their car. If I have kids in my car, I wouldn't drive like a maniac
id never put my kid in a any vehicle like the evo..its just not as safe as other vehicles imho.plus i dont have a crash beam in the rear either..but different strokes for different folks..

I put my son in my Evo all the time. Not sure where you got that crash test data from, however if you do a search for this there is a thread on here some where (I think Evo General) about putting kids in the Evo. Kids love Evo's! no kidding.

don't forget the evo's handling and braking are great for accident avoidance.....
if crash worthiness is that important to you ( which you have a good reason for it to be) than i dont think the evo is for you... or you can always have it as a secondary car

The way I look at it, crash ratings don't really mean anything when you take into account all the idiots on the road. You (or the children) are just as likely to be seriously injured if some dude in a lifted F250 plow into you when driving the Evo as you are in a Volvo. I do see where you are getting at, but the Evo doesn't have the greatest ratings as far as crashes go.
