Guess what I'll run...

What's up guys, I just got the urge to see what the rest of you guys think I'll run at the track this weekend. A little info: The track is Byron Raceway in Illinois and it is one of the "faster" tracks seeing it's slightly downhill, the weather is supposed to be in the high 60's hardly any wind.. Now with that said, I'm basically stock.. 05' with only a K&N drop-in and a Stage 2 Exedy clutch. This will be my first time ever at the track and I know that's a major factor that most people pick up on real quick, and I wanted to get to the track before I make the trip back to Ohio for the Buschur Shoot-out.

Cliff notes so far:
Car is basically stock
First time at a track
Track is slightly downhill

Now one of my buddies at UTI who runs at the track regularly with his STi, runs between a 13-13.1 consistently, and for the hell of it we did 5 fun runs from a dig, each time with me coming in about 3/4 of a car ahead of him, being full weight, plus 50lbs. of tools and a couple school books. Now when I go to the track I'm taking out the spare, the wood covering, rear seats, and passanger seat.. along with my tools and books.. Weighing it all out it came to over 100lbs. of weight coming out of the car. Now with that said.. what is some of your guy's inputs? Will I be able to hit 12's basically stock with the weight reduction.. or will I choke and be mid 13's all day..

I would say low 13s. Be careful with that clutch btw. I broke my tc with it launching.

If your not tuned it will def be in the 13's as this will be your first time at the tree. You will be nervous and prolly botch the launch, just stick with it and don't rush the light, your R.T. will not effect your E.T.

My guess is a best of 13.5@104 with a 1.8 60'

I like this one the best so far..

The main reason for me posting this is because a Polish kid at school (for some reason it seems to me any Polish kid knows everything about cars) he was like. "Every time I've been to the track I've never seen a stock Evo break into even the 13's.. So there's no way you'll even get close to a mid 13" So he goes on and on how his Acura TL with a type S motor with a 75shot ran a 14.2 @ 10Xmph.. When I asked him his best 60' time, he smurked an said a 2.3 or 2.4... then he added "beat that"
I'm trying to make this kid understand that a stock evo can hit a 1.6 sixty foot which is already .7-.8 tenths of a second ahead of him at only 60' of 1320! And I'm gaining distance & mph.. because of him spinning off the line.. Some of the kids at UTI think they know everything, and you can't say anything to sway their opinion towards yours.
Oh well, I'll find out tomorrow.. And if I do break into the 12's he'll probably just say "oh you found that slip on the ground somewhere, that's not your car.."

since u plan on drag racing, i hope u got cash stashed for a new clutch in case u burnup the stock one. the order things will blowup is this: clutch, trans, transfer case. if u launch & shift like its a rental, u might even run a 12.99...

12.9 in a stock VIII, IX's are hard pressed to hit that! Also I bet a huge sum of money on the TC going before the trans.

the heavily weighted word in that statement was "might".

if he can muster a lower than 13.5 w/out blowing it up then he has driving skill. it's worth noting that Motor Trend ran a 13.3 in a stock '03...

I ran a 13.46 on my third run on my 04 when i got it with no mods. I ran my car extremely hard and the clutch lasted 9500miles. Launch @6000-7000rpms and youl definetly hit mid 13's.

Well if you would've read the starting post, you would've known that I already have a Exedy Stg. 2.. So I don't have to worry about babying the stock clutch.

But just to up-date the b*t*h (aka the wife) finally decided to start working out after a few weeks of putting it off.. and wouldn't ya know I had already taken out all the seats, spare tire, everything that I was taking out is taken out and laid neatly next to all the dusty work out equipment. I even covered it up with a blanket just incase.. about 2 hours ago I get a call .....
"why the *uck are all your seats down in the basement beside the equipment?? If you think your going to sneak out (she's at work while I'm "sneaking out") and go to that drag strip you have another thing coming.. UGH!! just think I felt bad for you not being able to race the past couple of weeks cause of the weather, and I was going to let you go to Ohio for the race at Norwalk.. Here's your two options.. Go to the track tomorrow, and not go to Ohio.. or not go tomorrow and go to Ohio.. simple as that, you decide *click*"
I swear sometimes if I could just beat the living @#$#@% out of her once w/out anything happening to me..
So it looks like I'm not going to race on Saturday after all and wait till the Shoot-out to finally run my car (watch it rain or something) *knock on wood* then I'll be REALLY pissed.. but thanks everyone for their input, by the looks of it I'll probably do the 13.00 and slower bracket racing.
