There are big differences between various sound deadening materials, including effectiveness and weight. The Sound Deadener Showdown is a good place to start looking into the subject.

Taking apart the carpet isnt that difficult of a job, just tedious. First you have to take out all of the seats and the center console. You will also have to remove or loosen all of the body panels that the carpet is tucked under. Be careful there, because the clips that hold things in place can be tough and fragile at the same time.

Ive put some fatmat materials on the whole trunk and i think it helped a little bit. I still got quiet a few materials left. I also got some second skin material that Id like to put on the car to silence the car more.

My car is pending sale and if that falls through, Im going to put all those material in my car and see if the sound changes. My exhaust is not loud to begin with so I hear a lot more of the engine and road noise.

Took me exactly an hour at a slow pace getting the entire interior out (minus roof/dash/doors)

I love that Mitsu left some channels to run wires under the cross bracing (1/0 wire even fits!)!!! Pics soon!!!

I know Dynamat can add considerable weight depending on how much is used. I would imagine that the weight addition of the coating would be the full Walmart can minus the can.

Dynamat. The trick is to cut out 2" circles and place them every 4" apart on center. Helps reduct the weight.

No, in fact I didn't know you could get it at Walmart until I read your original post. If someone finds out, post the name.

total waste of time sound deadening an evo. I did this on my old car, it was a little quieter but still loud and it added a bunch of weight.

It is a good idea, but for me I like to hear my car and all its loudness.
