Actually, Best Motoring had done a comparison with EVO IX vs Evo X (SST and MT) vs new STI vs old STI. Evo IX kicked all their butts!! For some reason I can't find the video anymore. It was taken off you tube.
I would love to see the video again if anyone finds it.

who even knows what the state of tune was between the two. with the myriad of options available for the IX it's not unlikely it had a significant power advantage. this skepticism between evo models is normal as it existed between the CE9A vs CP9a then CP9A vs CT9A. you should always hang tight until the 3rd iteration of a given series to make final judgement. III, VI, IX are the best models of each series and there are arguments for an against each one when comparing between them. we'll see what the XII has to offer..hehe

The specs on both Test & Service (OHLIN) EVO IX and X are very similar. These cars were built for all Japan Endurance Race Series, a.k.a Super Taikyu Class ST2.

HP rating is about 300bhp or close to stock. They have a lot of limitations and restriction on what you can modify and what not. Majority of the modifications are in suspension, brakes, fuel systems, and exhaust system.

Nice vid but for those exclaiming that they are happy they bought a IX remember that the Ohlins Evo IX almost def. has AYC, unlike our USDM Evo's
(Mind you I still prefer my IX waaay over the X )

Not likely. I would expect both cars to have been RS's originally. The IX RS didn't come with AYC unless optioned that way.

another way to look at it - the X is doing incredibly well considering that the CT9A has been publicly available since march of 2001 wheras the CZ4A has been available in japan since all of 7 months ago? no one can reasonably say that they have really, truly unlocked and developed the evo 10 with all 7 months of their experience.

the 10 is no joke.

if they are circuit cars there are strict guidelines that need to be followed as far as weight, HP, saftey.... so the whole argument about the IX having a power advantage is crap, because these cars are practically the same power wise. it pretty much all comes down to suspension set-up, aerodynamics and some other things. what im trying to get at is EVO IX FTMFW!!!!!!!

i have not seen ONE video of a competition race between the ix and the x that the x actually took the victory. they all went to the ix. its so obvious that the ix is the better car, unless all the drivers for the x videos were crap. unlikely! im sick and tired of all the x owners who call me a hater. the proof is out there and its my opinion that the outgoing model the better performance car.

Nice find, the IX is pretty much slapping the competition. STi was up there and SST was doing fine the first couple of laps then lost it, the skyline was awful btw. You guys see all that under steering damn.
