just installed boost gauge...PROBLEM
ok i was maxing out my stock boost gauge that reads in bars! witch maxed out at 1.5 bars i think thats "21 & 3/4 psi" anyways i was maxing out in every gear but first so i really needed to get a boost gauge that reads high and in psi ok so i bought an autometer gauge "read up to 30psi" so i install it now i cant get it to go past 20psi unless im in 6th gears at wot and even then it only read up to 22psi where do you guys think the problem is the line the gauge is this gauge off or is the stock gauge off
the gauge came with the plastic boost line i just sliped the stock boost hose over about four inches and put three zip ties on it tight i rechecked everything i just dont know whats wrong can someone please help me out here

i no i dont have a boost leak cause i just maxed out the stock gauge "22psi" before i swap out for the aftermarket one now it reading 2psi less
the stock gauge does read in bars! and there is no nipple to push the hose over its just a compression locknut with the plastic boost line that comes out and i did slide the boost hose over the plastic line for a good four inches then it just wouldnt slide on anymore so i put 3 zips on it!!
i think i'm going to try out what joedr said turn the boost up to see if the gauge is reading right but can someone tell me if it safe to do that just to check??
thanks

Stock gauge does NOT read in bars. Its in Kg/cm^2. 1.0 Kg/cm^2 = 14.223 psi. So 1.5 Kg/cm^2 is 21.3 psi. As the oem gauges may not really be that accurate, either are the autometer boost gauge. Theyre junk IMO. Had two of them fail on me.

The brass couplers ( called ferrels) may be over tightened which will crush and cut the nylon tubing provided with that gauge assy. You can buy new ferrels at advanceauto (Ive done it! lol) A restriction or cut would tamper the gauges reading.
