Passenger axle help!

After installing my clutch I started putting everything back. Got done with the driver side axle with no problems at all and then started on the passenger's side. When I push in the axle all the way it doesn't lock up. I can pull the axle and it opens up about half an inch, but won't come out unless I pry it out. Has anyone dealt with a problem like this before? I checked the c-clip on the shaft of the t-case and it looks fine in my opinion. Can the shaft be in too far in the t-case? Any ideas would greatly help, thanks.

Here is a pic with it all the way in.

Here is a pic of it when I pull on it. It stops there and won't come out unless I pry it out.

i think it should be fine. i just finished my clutch install a 1 1/2 weeks ago and the driver side axle looked similar to that. i have about 1k miles on the new clutch and everything seems fine. i hit the end of the axle with a rubber dead blow hammer to make sure it was seated as much as possible. just make sure you're not able to pull it out with your hands which you obviously did already.

Make sure the inner circlip on the output shaft is not defective. I have broken one of these before and had to replace it. You want to be sure that the seal is made and that the axle won't dislodge and then a loss of fluid could occur. Better to disassemble and inspect than risk it down the road.

How do I tell if the circlip is defective? It's not broken or bent in an unsual way. The only thing that I am worried about is if t-case fluid leaks out.

There is in inner circlip on the output shaft from the t-case. This is what you want to check.

So do I pull the output shaft out from the t-case, just like how I pulled the shaft from the tranny?
