Most Evo and STI test results from publications

Just for the sake of comparisons since everyone likes to pit the Evo against the STI and say which one is faster or handles better, I made these charts when I had some spare time over the weekend since I was looking through some old magazine clippings I had saved, then it became a little project:

Thanks to FJF for supplying me with the last piece of info I was looking for, which as I had predicted was the test data with the quickest acceleration times for any IX variant. I'd say if there is ever another "Which is faster, Evo vs. STI" thread, refer them back here and close their thread, haha.

By the last years (06-08), it basically boiled down to personal preference and whose word you took as accurate. Some tests say the STI is faster, others say the Evo is faster. Some say the STI handles better, others the Evo, it really is six of one and a half dozen of another.

The only thing better the STI is than the Evo is that the STI is faster on loose traction conditions because of it's inherent understeer which turns to neutral or enough oversteer under said conditions. The Evo will oversteer too much on dirt and snow and that is why people choose the STI over the Evo when they rally.

I can see how that chart might play out if someone is looking to buy a used EVO or STI.

That is damn cool. If not stickied it should be added somewhere on this site...even if just the EVO section. Nice work!

If stickied, would it stay in this forum or go to the Newbie/FAQ forum? I'd continue to update it as well as new reviews come along.

it would probably be best used in the newbie section since that tends to be where this question gets asked the most.

Wow those 0-60 times are suprising, especially considering the STi has more torque/displacement and you'd figure would accel faster.

It has a pretty weak turbo compared to the 16G. The 4G63 is also a hell of a motor.
