"Not a Daily Driver"
What a dumbass! I drive my car every single freakin day.....Not a day do I not drive it. I drive it to and from work, to and from play and to and from race! I have almost 6000 miles on it and nothing but stock. I have not encounter any major issues that many have been having ( knock on wood ). Only noises here and there. I think you definitely should take your car elsewhere for service.

And dont use the excuse that the tire wear rating is low, or the brakes are too agressive.
Im somewhat in part of a local corvette club, I know alot of people who drive corvettes year round, even sometimes putting well over 20,000+ miles on in 3 seasons!
Theres even one guy I know who uses his 2000 Camaro SS as a all year round car, he tosses on M2 wintersport tires on all 4 corners, The car does extremely well in the snow, even when the traction control is off.
I put at least 200 miles on my car every day. I haven't even had it for 2 months and I have over 8,000 miles. I haven't had one single problem and the dealership has treated me great, got an alignment (was out when I bought it) and had one pit pass service done, they suggested a place to get the cruise control installed, I brought it by to show them the install and even the general manager came down to see and ask me how it was. They work with me around their ****ty service hours 8 to 5 by letting me drop my car off with a sales guy (who puts it right into the service bay and shuts the door) and they give me a loaner for overnight and let me pick up my car the next night, even though their policy on loaners is only 4 hours unless the service takes longer. Yeah, I haven't had any problems with the car, which is the real test of a service department, but so far so good.
I would seriously suggest taking it to another dealer even if you have to drive a long ways away. When I had a Subaru I use to drive 70 miles north passing 2 subbie dealers along the way just to get proper service, with the SVT Focus, I drove 50 miles past 6 Ford dealers just to get to a decent one. None of them were perfect, but much better than the others I tried.

My EVO is my daily driver and it's served me well. Gas mileage is decent (all things considered) and I've had no problems whatsoever. If that dealer thinks that
brought this car over to the US to be toys for the people that bought it then he is an idiot. 5500 miles, driven everyday and loving every moment of it

That's a ridiculous and assinine statement to make. Specially a by a salesman or Mitsh rep. I'd tell them what he said at the Mitsubishi factory people and see what they think about that dealer!
My car has almost 9000 miles and I definitely drive it everyday. I would not buy a car that was not a daily driver because I don't have the place to keep a hobby car. I certainly would never but a $30K piece of **** that could not be driven every day. That kind of talk makes me want to grab the guy and shake him up...What an idiot... Your car should not be giving you so much problem. Please complain and document everything. You might have gotten a lemon (all brands have them).
Good luck

I drive mine hard. Everyday. It's not stock, and has never given me a bit of problems. No tranny noise, no rattles, no shimmies, nothing falling apart. 0 problems. Good luck with yours; sounds like it's time to find another dealership.

To be honest, I have owned 6 Subaru's now and I try to do everything my self
if I can instead of bringing it to the dealer for service so I am not expecting anything great from Mitsubishi either. As with any kind of dealer there are some that are better than others.
For example there was a Subaru dealer about 1.5 hours away which would add mods to WRX's and service cars under warrenty while you chatted with them about how you did at the last autox or track day.
They would be honest with you; if you had an issue with your car and if would've gone wrong whether you tracked your car or not they would fix it with out a problem and they would discuss with you why they may have to charge you for something if the mod and / or driving technique you had may have caused an issue. But either way they were very fair and honest (as well as pollite and very reasonable) but other dealers would give you nothing but a hard time and try and void your warrenty for anything you do to the car (adding a K&N drop in filter for example).
So try talking to local Evo owners and see how their dealers treat them. I plan on meeting my Master Tech at the dealer I am buying my Evo the day I pick it up just so I can be a "friendly" familiar face to him incase I do have any issues and he will be the only one who will service the car.
Call around if you have other Mitsu. dealers around you and see if you have any better luck.

Thanks to everyone for replying! I could hardly beleive that a service manager would really say something like that to a customer, and I'm relieved that I'm not alone in my opinion. I drive this car every day, and I enjoy every minute of it. In my opinion, it isn't too rough of a ride and several passengers have agreed. It doesn't get exceptional fuel economy, but it's simple - more fuel = more power, and I can live with that.
I've actually had additional problems with my Evo. The air conditioning compressor was losing freon, so it has been replaced already during the first service. The car has also belched black smoke under full throttle. I've checked my local lemon laws here in Kansas, and I'll be able to file a claim if things continue, and a certain number of problems / time out of commission has been met.
To answer more questions, I run the standard Premium 91-92 Octane fuel, which is the best available here. To describe my driving style, the car sees redline once in a while, but not all the time. I drive the car for fun but not for abuse. I don't drag-race, and I still have the original clutch. Long-story-short, I drive fast but I don't tear-up the car -- probably like the average Evo owner. There's about 8-9k on the odometer and I'm really worried about the next 30k and beyond. I guess we'll see what happens.
Thanks to all for your support!

It's a street-tamed rally car. The damn thing should be able to handle an occasional redline run and definitely shouldn't be falling apart all over the place. What horsepoop.
I really really REALLY have a lot of reluctance to spend $30k on a third-tier brand like Mitsubishi.

brand since you certainly will never be able to best an EVO with your Honda
