Quick test I need you to try...(all you have to do is hit your brakes)
Park your evo somewhere completely dark.....(I did so in my garage)
turn your key on, but DONT start your car.
Look at the cluster lighting, but leave your headlights and parking lights off.
now - hit your brakes all the way to the floor while you stare at your TACH/SPEEDO (cluster lighting)
Does it get just the tinyiest bit darker when you hit your brakes, and come back when you lift off the brakes?
Mine does, and I can only see it do this when it is dark out - its not enough difference to see during day.

it did this on the stock battery and the ets minibattery - has nothing to do with the battery
Can someone please actually try it - thank you. =)
Still gonna say its just the battery/alternator. The fact that the car is idling measn the alt isnt spinning and the amperage it produces is directly porporsionate to the engine speed.

doesnt matter.
its a simple test I really just want to see the facts if it happens to others not speculation.
please - thanks.

It's all in the amps. When running any electrical component off battery or alternator power, the more draws there are on that power source, the less amperage to each component individually. It is not noticeable on most components but very noticeable on bulbs because when the amperage to the bulbs drop, even slightly, they will dim. It is normal, same reason lights dim in a car with a large subwoofer when it hits. The alternator doesn't put out much power at idle, only at 2k+.

I just pulled my radio out, it was lighting up when i hit the brakes. I also noticed this. Can someone please check? LOL 10 posts and nobody actually did it.
I was expecting there to be a "now say Biggie Smalls 10 times and he'll show up and kill you".
If the cluster dims it just because of the additional amperage draw of the brake lights with out it being enough to kick the alternator into charging.

the problem really is that my RADIO lights up when i hit my BRAKES...
now that is F'ed up...
I also noticed this deal with the cluster - I disconnected the radio and i am still seeing this..

Have you ever tried to roll up four windows at the same time? Did you notice it takes more power to roll up four than one, therefore slowing the whole window rolling process.

do the same thing but roll all your windows down at the same time and you will notice the same effect......so yes its just because you are using power from the battery.....
