Sounds like there may be a wiring issue with something on your radio. Every car I've ever driven does the gauges dimming thing when you brake. I really wouldn't worry about it unless you experience other problems.

the dimmin is normal, the radio powering is probably bad wiring... check that the radio power source is wired to the right place

its not the radio powering... its the radio nighttime illumination - this is the stock radio - mitsubishi wired it.

well i told you i check it last night and yes the guage cluster dimmed... but nothing else. its def normal but if you want to have it checked out go ahead. the only thing i could think of that would make your radio dim and mine not would be that my battery has more of a charge than yours did, idk

i have an MR so i have a battery voltage meter gauge ... every little button/pedal/anything u press makes my meter twitch.. i mean if my ac is on and i roll down the window and mess with the radio at the sametime my voltage drops to just under 12V... let go goes back up to 14... my dash flickers when my radiator fan comes on... everything u do affects your battery and u lose a lil voltage.. completely normal

if you want to minimize / remove this you can get a good capacitor. something like the capacitors for sound systems. this will help with the power surge.
