Key always recognizes as in.

Hey, I wasn't really sure what to search for this, but the car constantly beeps like it's got the key in the ignition. I took apart the steering column, and there is a piece that broke off the side of the igniton, has a metal panel on it that pushes in. I tried to put it back in, but the clips are broken to it, so it needs to be replaced. So, my question is if I buy a new one, will I need a new key and new locks on all the doors? Or is the Evo swapable?

Thanks!

Take your car to the dealership. They should be able to replace the part or get a replacement part for you. I don't think all the locks, etc.. will have to be replaced.

The key sense switch cannot be bought on its own. You have to buy the whole ignition lock with the switch. Unfortunately your remote is probably not working to lock the doors now. I'm sure the new lock can be made to work for your key. I actually made a jumper to leave both metal contacts connected the whole time. The only downside is the car will not beep if you leave your lights on.

You're right, the clicker doesn't work. I have been using the lock on the door, but my question now is...should I take this to Mitsu themselves? or should I take it to a shop that works on all types of cars and I trust and has cheaper prices?

It doesn't matter. Either way if its done right they will have to order a whole new piece and have it fit your key.
