which is better rear diff. (RS or AYC) and others questions RS vs GSR...

A) -Which is the best rear diff , version AYC o version RS diff. ???
RS rear diff at 100%, is better AYC calculations??
All diff(rear-front) are better in the RS?

B) -At this moment I have an 8 worth switching to a IX with mivec? or enhance power with fpgreen in my VIII. I need more power in low rpms, in evo IX is very fast kick-turbo in low rpms.

C) -Say you can start where the spool of turbo RS Magnesium IX and IX GSR? my turbo with 22psi in the evo VIII is very slowwww spool....

Thanks Boys!!

I understand that you are not from here, but you need to be sure you write in better english. I can barely understand what you are saying in A and B, and C is a total mess.

Now you aren't in America (i assume) so I am not familiar with what models come with what over seas.

Now the mivec part I can probably answer. In general, the IX when compared to a similarly modded VIII usually end up with about 25-30 more whp. The IX's stock cams also seem to respond better to methanol injection versus the VIII.

In my opinion, if you already have an evo, I would just stick with it and mod it to suit your needs.

I will try to translate:

A) Which is better, the AYC rear diff or the mechanical rear dif from the RS (and all US Evos)?
- When driving at 10/10ths, which is faster?
- Are the front difs in the RS different from the GSR?

B) I have an VIII, but I do not like the spool and would rather that it spool at lower RPM to give me a wider powerband
- Would it be worth trading my VIII in on a IX to get the Mivec?
- Or would upgrading to a FP Green turbo be sufficient?
- How about the IX turbo?

C) What about upgrading to the magnesium wheel used in the RS and GSR IX? Would that help with spool? BTW, I run 22 PSI.

Thanks Boys

You need to tell people why you are asking these questions?
what are you intending to use the car for?
also are they in your price range.
no point in going into a detailed discussion if you for 1. cant understand.
and 2 dont provide enough information..

is that fair?

on point two at least in the US version there is no difference in the turbo between those models. on point 3 are you referring to the stock RS evo turbo or something like this? http://lancershop.com/customer/produ...&cat=17&page=1
--in either case they will spool faster than the fp green

I kinda feel bad for you dude, just trying to get help but no one can help you.

Anyway, as far as I know, the AYC kind of drives the car for you so to speak, so if you like to be in total control of the car the whole time I'd say the RS diff is better. If you just want to go as fast as possible the AYC might be better for your needs.

I always thought all of the IX turbos were the same? In most cases, a small stock turbo will be the fastest in terms of spool, so you should stick with that if you want fast spool, and if you want a stock turbo with quick spool that still makes good power the evo IX's can make extremely good power on the stock turbo.

This is not the best forum to ask these questions, as the US Evo 8/9 did not come with AYC and has no difference in their Evo 9 turbos like the JDM Evos.

Ask on www.lancerregister.com/ or www.mmc.org.nz

People on those forums actually have cars with AYC.

A- Having had a car with AYC and changed to an RS diff, Im biased against AYC.

The Evo X SAYC is much quicker and more consistant in its performance compared to earlier version. The problem with AYC on the track is that it can be different in its reaction each time you lap. You can actually feel it working against things that you may WANT to do.

The weight saving and consistant response from the RS diff is a large advantage to me.

B- You are better off spending your money on other things than changing to a mivec engine. An idea would be to do a stroker if you are that perticular about spool.

C- There is a very small difference in spool between the RS and GSR evo 9 turbos and as such you should get the non-magnesium turbo (GSR) for longevity. Even though they fixed the self-destructing magnesium turbos from the early production run, I would be hesitant to buy one.

If you are unhappy with your Evo 8 turbos spool, there is not that much difference to warrant the expenditure of changing to a Evo 9 engine/turbo.

My tip would be to run your Evo 8 turbo on a 2.3ltr stroker. It wont cost that much and the turbo spool much much quicker.

For all those posters who were giving this guy grief for his spelling/language- surely you have something better to do than post crap. Or maybe its because you dont have a clue?

OK AYC and the LSD

forget those two parts!

actually you should be more focused on the ACD Computer as aftermarket controllers for the ACD in the 7 8 and 9 basically remove the AYC funtionality.

if you have ACD (which you should if you are driving a non USDM 8) try giving that an upgrade for your track day use. It is well worth it as (depending on the flash) it will make the car WAY more stable and is relatively inexpensive and probably the easiest install EVER.

Garage HRS
Mines
Ralliart

etc all make aftermarket ACD computers...
