Buying Evo8 with a rebuilt title
(My other thread was apparently deleted, I have no idea why...)
So I ran across an 2003 Evo8 with 45k miles on craigslist. Current owner was originally asking $21.9k.
After looking around here a bit, I ran across this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=305748 which is the for sale thread for the *PREVIOUS* owner (he sold the car, so I'm not interfering with anybody's sale).
I called up the current owner and he confirmed the car does indeed have a rebuilt title.
The car sold for $17.5k (guy says he paid $18k) last November. How much should I offer now, or does this deal already stink too much and I should just avoid it?
I think if I can get it in the $16-17k range that gives me enough of a safety net to fix any unforseen problems. What does everyone else think?
(mods: if you are going to delete this, at least tell me why please)

Why do people buy rebuilt title cars?
Just be sure your insurance / bank will insure/finance a rebuilt title.
And FYI: It's hard to sell it once it has a rebuit title, for that simple fact, not alot of institutions finance/insure rebuilt titles. - Unless of course your going to pay cash, but still when you go to sell it - if you ever do.
Just giving you a quick heads up for what you're into.

Do more searching for a better price.. like mine har har. Anyways, I'd look for something not rebuilt personally.. and yes, some insurances give you higher rates for a rebuilt one, or not even insure it at all.. not sure exactly why.
Even if a car with a salvage title has full coverage insurance, you will only get a fraction of the high KBB value if the car is deemed a total loss. I would just save my money and buy an EVO with a clear title. You may end of saving money in the long run by buying an EVO that has a clear title and no accidents.
Unless you can get it for 12k it is a waste. There is some good info already in this thread too.
It is not worth the same to an insurance company if there needed to be another payout down the road. But at the price it is going for you should be able to easily find an 03 clean Evo with a good title.

Depending on the reason for the salvage title, you should be getting at least 20-30% discount. If not, you're paying too much. In this case, it doesn't appear you getting any discount. In fact, you're paying top dollar.
but I agree... I don't think he's going to want to come down as much as it would make it worthwhile to me.
