Paint Chipping problems

Mods:

Please leave here and/or sticky for a little while. Trying to get all of the EVO owners attention to review and comment as its obviously more then a handful of cars experiencing this problem.

Owners:

Please check your EVO behind the rear drivers side door; the thin piece between the door and the wheel well for paint chipping. It appears to be a common problem with multiple EVO's and we need to get it documented so its easier to get repaired via dealers without hassle. (Also to bring to your attn. if you happened to not see it.)

See and comment in this thread if you guys are having the problem.

My dealer fixed this exact problem and was very helpful. He attributed this to poor door alignment. So far so good.

i posted about this a while ago. I brought it to my dealer and told him the about the problem and showed him the differences in the door alignment. He fixed the chips (alright job) and re-aligned the door. You should print out the last thread and bring it to him. That is what I did and he couldnt argue.

Mine is chipping too! Ach! So it's caused by misaligned rear doors? weird.

I will have to check the door alignment tonight. I do know that I have a several scratches in the paint right where you are taking about, but our dealer said it was caused by rock chips. Which I don't see how any rock can find its way in there.

The Evo is at the dealer for the recall now.

I don't get it, how does the door not sticking out far enough cause these chips? I have this problem on both sides.
