Wow...wtf?

So Im gettinh off work today, and decided to fill up at the local 76 station... As Im pumping gas, it clicks @ $23, and I think we all know thats not gonna cut it nowadays! So Im like WTF, keep pumping, and click, again... did it 4 times, got to about 26 and clicked again... this time Im like maybe my guage is off... Start the car, and the needle goes straight to half tank. (right where I expected) So I back up and hit the next pump for $23 it clicked like 3 times towards the end. I figured 26, and 23 is right where I should be now, but WTF???

There was a post on here the other day about something similar. Is your car running? If not, Try pulling the pump out a little bit

Kumura Mashattaki installed fuel flux inhibitors in the last 150 models for each model year since the Evo 6. This is the true explanation for the fuel top off phenomenon...Any and all questions beyond my explanation, please refer to my sig.

I know some of the newer mitsubishi's have a tsb for the filler neck. They replace the tube with a new one and check valve.

just dont pull the level all the way......this happened to me a couple times....when it starts pumping really fast the tube gets full fast and the pump thinks the car is full

so pull it out a little and dont hold the handle all the way open.......

Mine does the same only at Hess stations though. Turn the gas "dispencer" upside down. Then pump, it works fine.

Yep, this is old news.

Turn your car off, dont put the nozzle in all the way and dont pump it at 100%

Not sure if it has anything to do w/ the heat, because I normally fill up in the morning, (this was the first time I did NOT) Never had this problem...

I have read that its best to fill up in the morning, and not pump @ 100%. I tried pumping less than 100% that didnt help. Maybe next time it happends I'll try not pushing the nozzle in so far.

I didnt know this many people were having this issue. weird
