Running 99.9% Methanol as your only Fuel? Info please Help!

Hey guys,

I thinking about running 99.9% Meth as my fuel.

How can this be done?
Is it alrite for the car?

Anf Info woulf be great. I dont no much about fuel systems this may be a stupid question.

I can get 99.9% meth cheap from a friend that uses it in his drag cars.

If you do not know a lot about fuel systems I would recommend against it. That's not to say it hasn't been done: Rrev motorsports in Oregon has a mirage w/ 4g63 they run on methanol, as does John Shepard I believe. I'm sure there are many others, those are just the only ones I know of right now.

It think its been proven that long term use of METH can have alot of adverse affects, forget about using it straight without mixing it. Def do your research here before u jump into that. Also keep in mind if there ARE shops that do it, THEY may have the funding and materials to do continous complete overhauls if needed

Remember you will use almost twice the fuel (or more). So huge injectors fuel lines/fuel cell/pumps.

You have to have methanol compatible fuel pump/fuel lines/injectors. You would probably need to use an upper lube in the fuel to help with longevity.

But every time you are done running your car on methanol, you have to "pickle" it with regular gasoline. In other words you have to disconnect your methanol feed and connect a gasoline feed and run all of the meth out of the lines/injectors.

If you don't do that, you will most likely damage parts as methanol is very corrosive.

I don't know if Ethanol is the same way or not.

You can if your car is flex fuel. You vehicle may be able to to be converted with a software reprogram or a kit as well, especially if it is 2006 or newer. The only thing I have ever heard is that alcohol dries out petroleum based seals in your car. That would really only be the seals that are in the fuel system like the injector seals. A top end cylinder lube like Lucas would be good to lubricate the entire fuel system from fuel pump, injectors or throttle body to cylinders and valves. CNG also is hard on these ares minus the pump as it is not used where it is a pressurized gas.
