Please Help!! Mystery Vacuum Line

Ok I have the AEM EMS using a speed density setup. So I've eliminated the whole emissions vacuum lines, solinoids, sensors etc... I had my car tuned once before but am just now getting it running again BUT it's still untuned for the new mods

I have always had a smell of gas in the car, no lines were leaking or anything I just figured it was because I wasnt running any emissions.

well today I noticed that there was a vacuum line that I have never had hooked up. I think it runs fairly close to where the fuel lines run. Well I hooked it up and my gas smell went away,. so I was like hell yeah I wont be sniffing gas all the time anymore lol. BUT I looked at my AFR and it went from a 13.2 at idle to a 11 at idle. So I'm running wayyyy rich at idle now. But I couldnt think of what kinda vacuum line fitting could cause that.

If ya'll know what it may be please let me know. I'm thinking it might be the evaporative emissions canister (coal canister) but I'm not sure.

do ya'll think that could be the vent for the coal canister and the reason why I run richer is because all those fumes from the gas tank are now going into my intake manifold and being burnt along with the other gas???

Maybe the unhooked line was losing pressure to your fuel pressure regulator? dont know if it was Tee'd off anywhere near it.

nah I don't have anything tee'd off of the FPR. It has it's own vacuum sorce directly from the intake manifold. I'm thinking this was the charcoil canister vent or something. If it's the coal canister vent couldnt I just re-route the line to the back of the car and not get that gas smell???

let me know if anyone knows, thanks
