Got a quote from GEICO for EVO 8

I just decided to call Geico just for the heck of it to see how much my rates would be for full coverage for the EVO 8.

I'm 26, clean driving record, live in NYC, single, putting down a $1000 deductible, using the car with Lo-jack and alarm, putting less than 7000 miles per year on the car, and will keep the car garaged.

Sorry for the last paragraph but those are my factors going into my rates.

Well, with a $1000 deductible my rates every 6 months will be $1027.60, and if I take the defensive driving course, it'll be 10% less. about $120/yr less.

anyhow is $1027.60 too much every 6 months here in NYC?

I checked with Allstate who I've been with for 28 years. Never have had a claim in taht time. I'm 46 years old and was quoted $446 for 6 months insurance on Evo8. I asked several times if they knew what they were and it was listed as Evolution 8 in their guide. OK. I guess for me, insurance costs aren't a reason for not buying an Evo.

Suprised

Got my renewal from SAFECO yesterday and my rate for the EVO dropped to $375 for 6 months. 100/300 coverage and 250/100 comprehensive/collision deductable with extras, uninsured, towing, ...etc. (complete coverage). I'm over 40, married, no points and 5 years no accidents. Also have 3 cars on the policy and homeowners with same company. Can actually go lower with an alarm, probably have one installed next month.

I'm 22 with a driving record littered with simple speeding tickets, and I got quoted for 163 monthly. That’s about 20 less a month than my mustang. I got a friend with a 03 cobra with an insurance of 400+ monthly. I was seriously expecting to pay close to that.

Definitely great news.

Damn, how was I quoted $309 per month? I'm 23 with a completely clean driving record.

Remember, folks, WHERE you live has as much an effect on your rates as what your driving record looks like. You're gonna get jacked if you live in NYC, but you'll pay next to nothing if you live out in the sticks...YMMV...

my insurance is through metlife. metlife is not normally available in massachusetts (so is Geico, Progressive, State Farm and majority of those big name company, but for some reason they still show their commercial here). Because of the company i work for, we get them and with a 10% discount. i live just over a body of water away from Boston. Our insurance are normally high here though. My WRX was at $1800/year.
