If you want to run one, just for the "added safetynet" of knowing what your afr is like, its simple. For a gauge, you will just need the sensor in the downpipe, and then the power, ground, and signal wires hooked up. You will then need a gauge that also has signal and power hookup, as well as the signal wire from the sensor.

The sensor needs power/ground because it is heated.

Thanks for the tip. i think the AEM is as simple as you described

hey hytek, i think u know my stand with zeitronix

i really like zeitronix because it is extremely accurate, and because u can expand it.
for now u can just get a wideband. then later u can add boost and EGT.
u dont need to wire anything after u wire the brain in for the first time, everything is plug and play after that.
u can even have audio and visual alerts and u can set the values on your laptop.

to log AFR or any other value (given u have the sensors) u dont need a gauge or display of any kind. u just plug the brain to your laptop and u're set. logs up to 16 hours of continuous data.

zeitronix is always coming out with new gauges and updates, when u are tired of your old gauge u can simply buy a new one, it's plug and play.

ZT offers these gauges for now, more to come:

also, if u want to make the wiring plug and play get a patch harness (i use boomslang).
i think it's 5 or 6 wires that need to be spliced.
it will looks similar to this when u're done:

all the instructions can be found on ZT site or on this forum.
it's not hard at all.

I use the Innovate LC-1, Innovate LM-1, and AEM UEGO ... haven't had a problem with any of them. I very much like the fact that the Innovate widebands allow me to calibrate the sensor, which the AEM does not allow me to do.

how difficult was the install process? did you have a boomslang or wire harness?

paid 30 bucks for a bung. ran the sensor wire through an existing hole in where the transmission tunnel would be in a RWD car. perfect. wiring is very simple, just need a pack of 3 dollar tap in connectors from radio shack and tap into 5 points at the ECU, power, ground, tps, rpm, sensor ground. no need for pricey boomslangs.

i got it with the LCD mount which i mounted onto my dash. i will upgrade to the map sensor, and EGT probe in the near future. for those two there is no additional taps at ecu. . u get accurate boost, and egt temps along with afr in one nice lcd display. i hate a pillar gauges. this does it all.

furthermore, u can log it with evoscan or mitsulogger, and it has its own logging software which is nice. no free air calibration needed, it self calibrates. no sensitive grounds like the lc-1, can handle lots of dirty power.

after extensive research, i liked it best and im happy with it.

Awesome post, agree with everything you said. I can't wait to get my Zt-2 and display unit put in. If TTP would ever stop having so much business where they can fit me in for all sensors.

Congrats, you just bought one of the best widebands on the market. Second to oil, your car will thank you for the best bang for the buck kit!

Here are instructions for locating the O2 sensor bung: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=84914

Other than that, you just need to have good power and ground. You do not need to splice into the ECU harness unless you are looking for additional features besides monitoring your AFR - i.e., only if you want to also log RPM, boost, and other parameters.

For ease of installation, the LM-1 is the easiest, since it is a self-contained box, so you just install the O2 sensor, connect it to the LM-1 and plug the LM-1 into the cigarette lighter. Anything that feeds into a separate gauge will require a little bit more time to install, but either way, it's a really easy procedure. IMO, if you're comfortable with installing something like a radio/head unit/cd player in your car, you should have no problems with a wideband.

Car key just turned on so you can see the info... video later... I just ordered the COM port to USB converter on the Zeitronix website and a shirt or two
