How much is a IX MR 40k miles worth?

I might be trading in the STi if I can get a good enough deal on a IX MR. I am between 2 dealers now that have their IXs priced between 26k and some change and 28xxx. Each car has 37k miles and 47k miles roughly. One has a paint job on the hood I am not to fond of, and the other has a front lip and splitters on the front fenders...again, not to fond of the look but they are the closest IXs to me. Do these prices seem a little high or fair? You'd think the aftermarket work on the cars would depreciate the value somewhat. I'd prefer the one with out the the paint work, but it is also a little more expensive and I am trying to work the dealer down. Any thoughts? My STi is an 06 with 34k miles and I am looking at about a $3500 difference for the one priced at 26ish. All input helps. Thanks.

I feel it should be more like a $2k difference, maybee 2.5k at the MAX. You STI has low miles too!

go to kbb.com and you'll find the approximate value.

Folks have blown 4th gear at a HPDE with much less power. This is documented. It's not the power as much as the application. This said, if one isn't road racing, there's little to worry about.

This is not true. If you are not a horrible driver, a 6sp with be fine.

And to the OP, you should get more for your STi

How do you know? AFAIK, you don't own an Evo.

6-speed failures have nothing to do with driving ability. You may want to search the topic and familiarize yourself with the constraints involved.

Depending on the condition of your STI and if it's modded, they seem to have better resale value than evos. You might be able to get a $1k or $2k more if you sell it individually than what they are valuing your car trade in. No telling if the evos will still be around though by the time you sell your car.

They've been there for over 3 weeks to a month now. I think they're ready to move some inventory. I have been to KBB and NADA and blackbook to get a somewhat appropriate value, but of course dealers don't like to give actual value. My car is in great shape, and well taken care of. The only mods on the car are a downpipe, AP, intake, and coilovers. Made 306whp and 330wtq, and it's a blast on the street. Coilovers make such a huge difference on that car . Anyway, I've almost gone bigger turbo and changed my mind b/c I figured if I wanted to mod past what I've done, and evo may be cheaper in the long run. I'll try to work them down some more. Thanks for the insight guys.

Its an extra shift though. Thats the main reason I sold my STi. I had to shift into 5th at 100 mph, so it killed me in the quarter mile.

Still though, the gear ratios on the 6spd evo are better than the 6spd sti, so the evo with the same hp and all else being = to the suby would still probably run a few tenths quicker. I will probably never race the car on a road course, so the 6spd should do fine.

I think the prices are a little high. I bought a super clean IX GSR SSL with 21800 miles on it for 24K, from a Mitsu dealer about a month and a half ago. You should beat them up a little. This dealer wanted 27K for it but we ended up settling on $1150 over payoff on my Z and I put 2K down, so I financed a little less than 21K. Plus My 5year 60k warranty is still intact on the evo for another three years!

I think dealers generally will give better deals towards the end of the month to move the inventory. Also, if you go on a crappy day too like during a rainy day when it's slow and hard to sell a car, you might get a better price. Just a theory though.
