Dropped tool in engine help

As stupid as it is, I was working on the car and I ended up having a small screwdriver fall into the engine bay. It is underneath the intake manifold way down there. What can i do? Someone suggested taking the undertray off so I'm going to give that a shot tomorrow morning but I don't think it is lying on the undertray. I'm afraid its lying on top of the tcase or the tranny.

No I don't have any magnets. I need a really long and really narrow one though. Would autozone or pepboys have these magnets?

Lift up the front of your car. If it's on the undertray and not against something, it should slide right out.

Yes, any of those places would have them. They only cost only a few bucks.

I already tried this, didn't work. I think using a magnet is my best bet here next to popping the undertray off. Does anyone know how much these magnetic tools go for?

I've noticed that when I've dropped things on the backside of the motor they like to make it down by the passenger's side axle or they made it to the ground. I don't know how many nuts, bolts, etc, I've found between the axle and subframe.

make sure that the magnet is skinny and not too strong, or it is a PITA to get it into tight places... you can try launching your car and in most cases i found this to work when all else fails....

Lift the car on a ramp and from underneath you can easily reach in. Another way is to keep bumping the undertray by hand and position the tool so that it can be reached.

They are just a few bucks. And you will use it many many more times once you have one.
