Just Test Drove an EVO

I just finished test driving an EVO. The first this I want to say is WOW! . I'll start with the exterior.

The car is simply beautiful to look at. It was a black EVO. Even in stock form it is really nice. The front has a very aggresive look. The headlights, hood vent and intercooler just makes it look powerful. I really liked the carbon fiber wing. It accents the rear perfectly. The lines on the EVO are really nice. The fenders make the car look wide and buff. Overall, I loved every bit of the exterior except for the tail lights. Now for the interior.

The moment I sat in the car I noticed how snug I felt with the Recaros. The seats were really really comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was recline adjustment. It was just hard to reach. Over all, these are the best stock seats I've ever been in . The next thing I noticed was the material on top of the dash board. It isn't a cheap plastic at all. It felt like a BMW's dash on top. The design of the interior was simple but not too plain. Howerver, there are some parts that seem like it was made from cheap plastic. The instrument panel was a little hard to read because of the color and the size. The interior, overall is alot better than what i've read on this board and with the pictures i've seen. Now on for the test drive.

The fleet manager took the car out of the lot and we went on a road with no cars. He then parked the car and he said it was my turn to drive. I was so excited that my palms started sweating. I could feel the adrenaline pumping already. He never even got my license or anything to let me test drive the car. We just left the dealership, parked the car and I drove. I slowly let the clutch out on 1st and slowly pushed on the gas. I didn't know how far I could rev the engine so I quickly shifted to 2nd gear. I could feel the torque but at 3000 rpm I needed to feel more. I needed to convince myself that this is the car I want. We came to a stop sign and I noticed that the road in front was straight for a mile with no cars so as I shifted to 2nd I let it go to 4800 rpm and all i can say is WOW! The toque and power was amazing once i passed 3500 rpm. You could hear the turbo and engine rev. It was beautiful. I was pushed back to the recaros the held me so firm. I couldn't stop smiling. It was soo fun to drive. The fleet manager was takling to me but i was so amazed that i didn't hear a word he was saying. We came to another stop and I pushed it to 5000 rpm before shifting to 3rd and my eyes opened wide up and my jaw just dropped in amazement. I love this car! We then went to a road with 20mph turns left and right. I wanted to test the handling and man did it handle. The recaros held my body position in neutral and the EVO barely had any roll. At that moment I was sold!

After 5 miles of driving we finally went back to the dealer. I was still blown away with the test drive. This was the best test drive i've ever had. Anyone out there that is considering of getting the EVO and is somewhat skeptical about it, I highly recomend driving it. There are so many words to describe it but WOW! is just the best one. I'm am sold on the EVO. I'm just waiting till I can sell all the parts on my RSX and i'm back to the dealer to buy one.

Recline adjustment is a pain to adjust but it's the best next to electric seats. The reason is because with a lever you always want the backing in between clicks but the knob is infinite

It was Browning Mitsubishi in cerritos. They are still marking up over there. It was the closest dealer by my place so I just wanted to test drive the car. I told him that ther are some places that are selling for MSRP and he said thats impossible .

I knwo what you mean. I can't stop thinking about the test drive. It puts me in a good mood . Do you guys think I should wait for the 2004 EVO's. I just heard that they are having recalls and i dont' want to buy one that has to be recalled.

Try Huntington Beach Mitsu or some other dealers. I know a couple guys got theirs for a little over invoice. DO NOT pay above the sticker no matter what! Good luck - you'll love it.

Thanks I'll try that place out. Is getting it at MSRP still a good deal?

I would check around first - I got mine @ MSRP so I can't complain (and that was in April, so I guess I did ok talking my way around the $5K markup).

Some good deals in the Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington. Hannah offerred an Evo 8, no wing, no sunroof for $26,995. And it appeared that they would deal some more. Just a cheap flight up north to pick one up if it doesn't work out in Souther Cal. Premier Mitsubishi (Beaverton, Or) has at least 12 Evo8's on their lot.
