Vortex Generator Question!

Hello, I drive a EVO 9 but not MR. I have been wanting vto put on the vortex generator but I cant seem to make up my mind cause I am afraid to destroy my paintjob if I want to remove the vortex generator in a year or two. Will 3M automotivetape destroy the paint? Anyone who has taken of their Vortex generator and who knows what will happen?

I appriacitae this huge.

Thanks / Tim

Nothing some goo gone can't fix. It won't mess up the paint

Thumbs up

if you use 3m tape for your vg, be careful when you take it off. it will take paint off your car if you force it off. i found this out the hard way. i had a 1/4" spot of bare metal. be careful when you take it off. also make sure the vg is a good fit. mine rubbed some paint off by the rain rail where it attaches.

also. i would take this off like you do with any other de-badging. try using a blow dryer for 15 minutes on the whole piece. Like the guy said above about forcing it off, i think you have the biggest chance of taking paint of if you force if off like that. I have a rexspeed ww vortex gen on mine and love it. good luck with the removal

I took one off of my buddies TB VIII and there was a little sun fade it had been on for about 2 yrs, I just left it out in the sun during summer and it came almost right off, just becareful not to break the rain gaurd clips they are a little fragile. I used rubbing alcohol to get the residue off from the tape and it was done in about 30 min.

Just the regular 3M tape and you should be fine, nothing that will hurt your paint. Like stated above^^^^ though be prepared to see minimal sun fade.

Tape sticks to the car, go gone removes tape. What is your question?

Anyways a heat gun will make removing it down the road easy. Then use goo gone if any sticks to the paint.

What you need to worry about is the fact of you need to use rubbing alcholol to clean the paint to make the tape stick. Thats takes your wax off.

I suggest you never take it off, or dont get it cause no matter what when you take it off something will be different. That goes for all modding.

But for a cheap item why take it off.

Help To Match Vortex Generator!

I have a white EVO 9 and I gonna buy this vortex generator, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Carbo...mZ290250821085.

I am thinking of leaving it in carbon fiber look. Or do you think I should paint it white? My rims are all black, would my carbon fiber vortex generator match rest of the car?

Thanks
