Road and Track Ultimate Track Test

Hope this isn't a repost. Just read the sept issue article. I found it very dissappointing. What ever happened to our little "giant killer".

While not overly impressive, I think if you look at the cars they compared it to and how closely it stayed with them it is a testament to the performance per dollar ration you get with the new evo.

Also lets look at the slight differences between the 03 VIII and the 06 IX's I'm sure Mitsu will turn the wick up within the next few model years...or they better at least.

They're just too damn big and bulky looking.. they look rediculous, the interior isn't bad but I like the VIII's and the IX's MUCH! Better. The IX is my favorite though so far. And the X's are slower..

^ agreed.

there are serious power differences between the MR and the rest of that group with the exception of the Lotus which weighs about as much as a short-n-curly. I was a little disappointed the the autocross result but not suprised as the MR is really pretty heavy and doesn't have the same power as some of the other heavier cars in the group.

For the money spent, how do you complain? When I first looked at that article I thought "holy crap, those are some serious cars in that group" Seriously the cream of the crop of today's performance cars and I'm just pumped that the new Evo was even included in that group especially when they all cost WAY more than the Evo.

yeah, there are a lot of serious cars in there.. i'll definitely go along with that... and I don't expect it to beat a car like the GT-R ( which is my favorite out of the whole group ) considering the money they cost. The X is by no means a horrible car.. I just think a bit to much time was spent on the electronic stuff and not enough out doing the performance of the previous Evo.

I got my copy of the magazine in the mail a couple days ago and at first was disappointed in the results but then I started to think about it. When I saw the price breakdown of the competition it made me think that if a tuner put even a fraction of that dollar amount into the X it would rock the group. That's what happens when you put a couple thousand into an VIII or a IX; it kicks ***.

Why is it that the IX's have all performed better in several different tests?

compared to cars they used in this article. Do you really believe Evo 1-9 would fair better ???? Add coilovers, tune the car, and X is better in every aspect to 8-9

I don't know that it would be higher on the list... but I would bet that it would get better lap times... and we aren't talking about getting a tune or any of that... we are talking stock vs. stock... add a tune and some coilovers to a IX and you would probably have the same result with the IX coming out ahead again.
