Changing Dashboard Lights (PICS)
Changing Dashboard Lights (PICS)
I have almost all lights out on my dash but a couple behind the tach...i went to advanced to get some, wich was mentioned by another member where they got them. but its not just a bulb, the bulb is attached, from what i see by the wires going throught the little bracket that attaches them to the cluster.
do i need to buy the whole piece of can you just get bulbs, and how would you install them?? auto zone guy looked and said they dont sell this kind strickly from the dealer only....any info would be greatly appreciated.

this website can be so frustrating at times, i have posted numerous threads, like 2 or 3, asking for some help and NOBODY writes back. Its like some people just dont want to help, 9 people looked and i guess 9 people have no clue what im talking about. every thread i see about someone asking for help i am the first to write back if i have some info to pitch in. Sad sometimes on here, everyone is too good for the next person....
I am sorry nobody responded in the 31 minutes between your first and second posts. I rather wait for a one good answer instead of getting several half assed ones.
With that being said, go to your local dealership and get the bulbs. I bought them at a dealership before for my old Lancer.

i understand, it just seems like this is always the case, very weird, im a member of other sites, wether it be car, pet, work related, where everyone loves to help and chimes right in ASAP....never seems to be the case here.

I bought the bulbs from MitsubishiParts.net. No problems.
If you do get the bulbs with the plastic coating/sleeve, you might consider removing the the coating/sleeve to increase the brightness of the lights behind the dash. I did that and the display is much brighter at all times of day (and the dimmer can be used at night if it is too bright).
It's an easy install.
Cheers.

also, i bought a replacement at autozone. so they DO have it.
try kraigen, i usually have better luck there if autozone doesnt have something.
OR you can replace all your gauge cluster bulbs with LED bulbs.
they last longer and draw less current. and are brighter.

scroll almost all the way to the bottom. it is under the section titled: "Instrument Cluster and Gauge Backlights"

Im VERY confused.....
My bulb is flat on the bottom. and when i pulled one out, wich was NEARLY impossible to get out, it will not snap in, beacause i pulled the filament from inside the black fitting. The bulb is a single unit with the black clip in my evo. so when i take a bulb out its know broken, im lost.....thanks for the help though and if someone does know please HELP lol
edit...
in the last pic you can see the wires comming around, those are connected to the inside of the bulb...its all one piece....

Changing the gauge cluster bulbs was very painless for me. I ordered 3 of the bulbs from the dealer - they were a $3 each, so I ordered all 3. I took the cluster out, switched the bulbs out, and had it all back together in 20 minutes. I don't know why this is so confusing.
I think your confused... You don't want to replace the bulb but the whole unit. The bulb plus the black part is what you want to change and these are available at the dealer as said before. I went to the dealer and spent $15 on all three bulbs. They come as a whole unit with the black part that screws into the gauge cluster.

THANKS!!! someone know!
if you look in my pic though i have 21 spaces for bulbs, did you only need to replace 3???
