did mitsu fix your wing after 3yr/36k ??

hello,
I'm fighting mitsubishi to fix/replace my wing which has the common clear coat problem.

what I'm looking for is people who mitsubishi replaced/fixed their wing anytime after 3 years or 36,000 miles.

my issue is that they agreed to fix mine before the 3/36 but the dealership and I didn't get around to doing the work. Now it's after 3/36 and they're saying tough luck. I'm currently working with mitsu corp. and not the dealer anymore.

If I can show them examples of VINs where they did fix it after that (and I'm sure there are a bunch) then they'll have a hard time saying no.

please help!

thanks.

I think it would be kind of hard to fight, unless you can in fact find people that went past their warranty and still had it fixed. It would have been easier if you had a note saying (when you were still under warranty) that they would fix it, but because of scheduling you were unable to take the time to go have it done.

it's in the mitsu system that they agreed to cover it and never did the work... they don't care now that the time has passed.

I already have one person who PM'ed me... I need a few more...

thanks.

Good luck with this. A wing is maybe what? 400 bucks? Cheap and not worth my time fighing with a major corporation.

What took you so long to get this done?

G/L!

the main reason is that I was in no hurry since it's not mechanical, either the dealer was always busy, or I was... I'm considering selling the car sometime in the next year and want this fixed so I can receive full trade in value / sale price. my car is 100% except for the wing.

I know mitsu is covering this for people outside of 3/36... I just need decent proof.

Don't they replace the carbon fiber with a plastic one? Thats why I'm eventually just going to get mine clearcoated.

if you read the warranty, the body damage is limited to perforation rust (aka holes).

not doubting people haven't gotten this covered, but it is probably at the dealer's discretion!

I had a buddy COMPLETELY out of warranty... im talking even out of the 5yr warranty & STILL got his done. I have no idea how he did it. I got mine done myself, but I had to call corporate twice and they gave it to me on the second call. First call they said no.

sand it

When i bought my car, the wing was shot, clear coat was peeling and it just looked terrible...

I called Mitsubishi because i heard there might be a recall as well... yea , no they said its not covered, and pretty much laughed at me......

Sand Paper and Clear Glossy Spray= Brand new !!!

... i used one of those little hand held electric sand paper devices... Sanded all the clear coat off.. took about an hour and a half..... and then applied about 4 layers of glossy clear coat from a spray can....i was so impressed... it looks brand new!!!

why not... anybody walking up to your car can read the VIN.. it's not like I'm asking for your credit card.

thanks a lot a55hole, next time you're looking for help I'll remember this.

I just had mine replaced under warranty last month, but I don't have a 3yr/36k warranty - mine is 5yr/60k, since it's an 05. My mileage was only 31k, but it was at the 42-month mark.
