crazy hid colors

Is anyone on here running some crazy temperature hids either as fogs, headlights, high beams whatever. I am not talking 3000K-6000K range , I mean the 8000K, 10,000K, 12,000K, 15,000K, or even 30,000K. I know they do not offer more light, so please dont try to tell me something I already know. I am a engineer, and fully aware of how the kelvin scale works. I am just interested to see if anyone is doing it purely for the sake of doing it, and what they think. I am thinking about putting in some 15,000K or 30,000K in for a car show, and maybe leaving them in for putzing around campus, showing off to the local high schoolers, whatever (im just messing around) Anyways, I know they do not provide alot of useable light, and people think they are rice, or gay or whatever, but that is not what I am interested in. I just want to hear from people who are actually running a setup like this, for whatever reason that may be (looks, they like the color blue, their boyfriend told them to...) how do they look, do you like them, why are you running them, would you recommend to a friend etc

Like you said, the higher the number, the less light you'll get. Just don't drive it during rain if you have more than 6000K on your Evo My uncle has 8000K on his 328i and it's bluish purple.

Why would an engineer want to show off to high schooler? Looking for trouble?

I thought you said you understood the kelvin scale? Anything at that temperature would note be blue

Nice. Where you get them and how much? I found some on eBay for like $30. Not sure if quality is any good.

Anything above 6000k is just a waste, you can't see anything when it rains, I had 8000k on my IX and they "looked cool" but that was about it. I got rid of them and now rollin with 5000k, so much more visible light.

The color will vary depending on brand also but generally 4k - yellow, 5k - white, 6k - blue, 8k and above - purple. Also 5k is the best if function is what you are looking for. Im surprised that at 30k the light is still 'visible'...

The brand is sunshine i think? i got them from blinglights.com. they are the VHO (Very High Output) they light up alot of the road even though the are 8000k.

I'm pretty sure that they were $450. thats for bulbs and ballasts.
