tune/flash,ect.....?

kinda new to the whole tune/flash thing and sorta clueless where to start looking .so was wondering what direction i should go in . i have some pretty basic bolt-ons. whats the difference between a mail in flash and going locally to get a tune . and also all the different ways to tune ?

maybe someone can give me a link to a faq thread on this topic ?or of course tell me the best option
thanks

The dyno is not the environment the car is being driven in. No one drives stationary with 0 wind resistance/airflow. A custom tune does not mean dyno tune, and no, mail-ins are not worthless. A custom tune is better but not always available. Regardless, this is Evo General, and there is an entire HUGE tuning forum with many sub-forums. That's where the OP needs to go first.

that's right. there is also a road tune, which you can do via mail-in flash. i think 4ws and jestr are famous for these.

how can you get an accurate tune from someone in a different state? of course they can go off your logging but it can still get better. and even after you get the tune, how do you know its safe for your car? just cause its from someone people on here get doesnt mean its safe. i hear things all the time about people looking at their flashes and realizing the car is not tuned as safely as it should....

all i know is that bothers me and i would never get a mail-in
if it doesnt bother the rest of you, go for it. but dont hate on me cause im not gonna follow

oh and from what i understand, getting tuned on a mustang dyno, is very close the the resistance your car see's on the road...

and look at that, i get tuned on a mustang dyno...
ill keep it that way too

its more that the dyno reads closer to actual power than being on the road. most tuners give a base map to go off of which is supposed to be safe and they adjust from there and it would be best to have a wideband to make sure the AFR reads what is should because the ecu will pull timing if it knocks

if the dyno reads close to what power the car is making on the road, that means they are very close in resistance... which is what said in my post
