DISGRACE ................! WTF"!!! one of two things my friend.
1) either you got spanked and couldn't drive your evo (which I doubt) or 2) that srt-4 was NOT stock..
you know they have a stage 1 upgrade directrly from mopar and for really really cheap.......I have no doubt in my mind that is what he had. It consists of a remapped ECU, bigger injectors, improved throttle response and boost etc.. etc..
Those SRT-4's Modify well. my friend has one and yea its the ****. The only thing is he went through some runs in the valley and on the highway with me for about an hour str8 id say we were full ***** to the wall very late at night goin at it. He was allll stock and so was I and of course "I " was the one that did the spanking. anyway.....after a while we pulled over to see how our engines were holdin up. Mine was very very cool and seemed as if it was only through a ride down the park. now we came to his car and "WOA"....I HAVE NEVER SEEN A TURBO GLISTENING RED like that ever bfore! His turbo looked like it was about to blow up! it was sooooo freakin red.
dont quote me but I think that the srt-4's turbo is the weak spot and that really sucks if it is. Endurance wise anyway........

I drove a stock SRT-4. Even from a roll, it is no match for a stock Evolution.
I raced a modded 2G DSM and got smoked off the line. I completely bogged at the start. I'm guessing it's going to take a lot more practice to launch correctly. So I don't think the EVO driver was seasoned.
