HELP, making evo seat higher

Hey!

Ok im really short and I just bought a 06 Evo 9 and im too small for the stock seats so i have to use a pillow(lol dont laugh..gotta do what u gotta do)

We were looking @ it and we were able to add 3 washers in the back of the seat, but only 3 cause the back bolts are too short. Apparently they have a special threading that i have to get. Also the front bolts are welded or something.

Anyone suggest on how i can make this seat higher?? I want it kinda like the WRX seats, higher in the back portion (kinda slanted) so im not soo high i cant reach my pedals

thanks in advance for the help!!

The Evo seats area already really high stock compared to most cars in our category....even lowering brackets have been made because of this, but never heard of anything to make it higher obviously.

How short are you??? Not making fun of you just curious because I don't see how you can't see over the wheel...

You should be able to add washers to both the front and back. Since the evo seats have removable sliders and mounts, have you considered shopping around for alternatives from Recaro? They might have other bases and mounts that will raise the seat a bit.

I'm 5'5" and I feel your pain bro; my friends give me crap all the time for having the driver seat all the way forward so I can shift properly (or **** properly as they say). But I do like the stock seat position though...

1. Remove seat with bracket assembly.
2. Remove brackets from seat and reinstall in car.
3. Draw a horizontal line along each one where it can be cut to extend the height.
4. Cut all brackets and weld an extra 1" of metal to each one.
5. Reinstall and adjust each bracket to accommodate the seat and seatbelt.

I'm 5'6" and I still raised the front driver seat to my liking in motorsport conditions, so I can see where you are comming from.
4 washers under each bolts did the trick for me but you might have to do more.

In your situation, just get longer bolts for the rear of the seat(grade 8 at least). In the front of the seat you might be stock with adding only 5 washers because the stud is short and welded and nuts are used to hold the seat down.

Umm Get longer bolts and alot of washers. If you can find the thread size for the bolt it will be easy to locate them online, its not thing special probably a m12x1.25 but you have to find out the size for sure. I was wondering why someone had to raise the seat, being about 6 feet I am a bad height for sports cars so that why I got an Evo, and I still want the seat lower. I just fit into my MR2 and I used to have a miata, I didn't quite fit but i made it work.

I got Sparco Evo seat with Sparco base and side mount few weeks ago.
With the lowest setting, the seat was sitting few inches higher than stock position and it was very weird, felt like driving a semi truck.
The base was fabricated to sit lower (probably half an inch lower than the stock position).

Maybe, you can get one of Sparco seat and adjust the side moun to the highest position. It should be significantly higher than stock seat.

The easiest way I can see to do this.

remove seat from car
remove rails from seat, note how far bolts extend into seat
install spacers/washer/bushing as needed
get longer bolts to replace stock bolts that attach rail to seat as required by your spacer stock, also recommend a flat and lock washer under the head of the new bolt
use high grade bolts suggest 10.9 or better
use at least blue/medium thread lock compound on all bolts

be careful, get a second opinion if you feel unsure, those four little bolts, M8s as I recall and those are little bolts, they hold your life in a crash.

tech info on metric bolt grades
http://euler9.tripod.com/bolt-database/22.html
http://coastfab.com/tech%20info.html

coast also sells some very high grade bolts
