iPhone Apps For Your Evo
Dynolicious is OK. I don't think it was worth the $13 I paid for it, but interesting in concept alone, and pretty accurate. Didn't get the chance to run it at the track this weekend to compare with an actual timeslip. Would be nice if it used GPS as a frame of reference.
Rev seems less interesting. The fact that it requires hardware to hook up to the OBD2 port makes me have even less interested. I'll stick to Mitsulogger/Evoscan+laptop solution for now.
And tuning on an iPhone? are you kidding me? it is hard enough to bang out an email on this stupid thing, let alone tune! The fact that the iPhone doesn't really have a filesystem would make managing XML files and ROMS a nightmare. Again, laptop FTW.

It's obvious that the Rev application would need to hook up to the OBD2 port to be able to get the readings, otherwise impossible. I don't see why this would make you less interested.
Also there are plenty of ways to manage the files on your iPhone if you do some research. Wouldn't be difficult to sort your XML, ROMS, etc.
And I don't see how you find it difficult to send an email on the iPhone? Pretty straight forward. Obviously a laptop is the premiere option, but for portability and what not, using the iPhone is cool.
I downloaded dynolicious and used it in my SS. When I tried it in the Evo I could not get it to calibrate. There were times that it actually started the clock while it was still calibrating. Anybody else have issues like that?
I think Dynolicious was worth every bit of the $13. Think about it, it's the most accurate Dyno software that you can get without having an actual Dyno. A dyno tune is usually around $400. With this, you can Dyno your car whenever, wherever, however many times you want for a one time fee of $13.

I mean, you *could* type a novel on the iPhone, but you wouldn't want to... same goes for tuning. Plus, the iPhone has a terribly slow processor by modern standards for anything outside of a mobile device. I could see this being an issue with datalogging.
Try restarting your iPhone. Then be inside the car, sitting there idling, and calibrate. If that doesn't work, you might need to reinstall the app.
This is also great for those who get a street tune over a dyno tune.
As we all know, a street tune is better because it puts a more realistic load on the car (tires, air, etc.)
So with applications like this, do a couple runs and see your numbers.
Then, after you get your street tune, do a couple runs again and see the improvements

I got the dynolicious on my car, but I haven't used it much. It's hard to find that much room w/o worrying about getting busted by cops! I don't know if I have the wrong numbers for the weight for my car or if I am getting too much wheelspin, but it says I'm doing 0-60 in over 9 seconds!
There is a thread with a link to a site somewhere around here if you search, where they weighed all the different trims so you can use that for your weight. I also had the same problem as far as the cops go. First day I got it I wanted to try it out but everywhere I went there was cops / too much traffic...they even put a picture radar on this back road we always go to...radar detector saved me on that one as I was about to make a run.
I put my weight at 3300 (later weighed the car, 3400 is what my car weighs with me in it) and 20% drivetrain loss. When I did this, it came within 1HP of what AMS's dynojet said a week or two later.
You can calibrate it anywhere.
