Taking pieces out of the dash to fix where Mitsubishi f'ked up finding tons of loose bolts. Awesome

Edit: airbag was not even bolted onto the bar behind the dash. Never ceases to amaze me at how little other people care even for the safety of others when the job wasn't even difficult.

I guess I'm a lucky one. All I had to do was clean sticky gunk on my dash.

In other news I don't like how fedex wont let me pick up my package (jdm bumper) 5 miles away because of their deal with the shipper. Been sitting there for 3 days. Sigh just one more day...

And yet some of the dealerships don't let us remove our own dash for the recall.

I wonder if the odds of malfunction in an airbag are actually just slightly smaller than the amount of times service techs forget their phones in the dash, don't bother securing things, create shorts, etc.

They didn't allow me to bring just the dash in, had to be in the car because of liability.

I know it is too late now, but for future reference for others.... just order through a dealership. The JDM bumpers are regular stock in US warehouses... when you order from the vendors here, they are just buying them from dealers and reselling them to you (often for notably more money than some dealers sell them for), they don't have any special japan connection or anything.

Yeah you heard wrong
I work for Mitsu, we stock them. MMNA stocks JDM tail lights (including VII), valve covers, rear bumpers, pretty much anything that has a cult following over here. They aren't dummies, they stock what sells even if it isn't a US part.
You just need to have the part number, since most dealer parts guys aren't going to know them off the top of their head and they can't look them up by VIN (well, most can't; Kendall Mitsubishi can, among other "big" dealers).

For reference... the JDM rear is 6410A378, there are currently 20 in the Atlanta warehouse, 24 in the New Jersey warehouse, 46 in the Los Angeles warehouse, and several dealers that actually keep them on the shelf too

No longer available factory painted (from any source). Currently... List price is $625, no shipping if you order from your local dealer (or I see you are in Florida... Lehman in Miami and Sport in Orlando both have two of them in stock).
If you order from a discount dealer like Mentor it would be $468 (but you would have to pay shipping from Ohio of course).
