Well then you are an idiot my friend. passing traffic at 100 mph?? What is wrong with you? Not only are you putting yourself at risk, but everyone else as well... And yes, you should respect your car and the people around you a bit more

Some of you guys are a$$es, not caring because of his age is rediculous! That shouldnt classify anyone! I am 20 (almost 21) and am lucky enough to drive around a Buschur built 600 hp car. Its at 560 hp driving around the streets everyday on pump gas. Honestly, this car was the best thing I ever did. When I had my celica I drove it like an idiot because it didnt have much power. With the evo there is alot more respect for the car. HeII, Ive seen 60-70 year old guys driving around corvettes like complete *** hats. So its not all about age, its about your responsibility!

RIP, and extremely sorry for the passenger. I would never want to live after the person a foot from me died!

the 100 mph was from a "witness". according to wkmg. they have been hyping alot of street racing stories and it is probably BS. There was more detailed account from the highway patrol in the Orlando sentinel (link in the local forums). They did not mention high speed, just look at the car, that does not look like a 100 mph crash to me.

he was passing multiple cars and one pulled out in front of him to pass too so he had to swerve. I'm not defending that, my only point is that it is easy to die even at normal highway speeds.

Anyway its very sad to see this happen to a young kid.

+1 I am only 18 and own an evo and am very mature and responsible. I had a 40+ year old man roll up next to me then take off on the highway and he easly got up to 100+ mph. This is what makes us younger evo owners look bad. But still is a very sad story.

I think people bring up age because in general, it relates to experience. I agree that track time is important, and I even suggest taking your car to an empty parking lot when it's raining to learn the limits of the car.

Again, as a general observation, young drivers tend to over correct when the car loses control. It takes years of experience to overcome the natural (over) reaction when you have an "Oh Sh%#" moment. You almost have to expect it with every turn and brake.

It appears that he was traveling backwards as he hit the curve, went through the grass before hitting that pole. Assuming that he must also have been flooring the brakes during all of this, 100+ mph is probably correct.

RIP fellow Evowner.

Track or street, if you're not careful, it can end up the same. I hope that won't increase the insurance rate for the Evo community as a whole. RIP to the poor guy.

Have you ever been to a track before? They have flaggers that let people know if there is danger on or off track. Most tracks have alot of mess up room whereas in the street there isn't. I have overshot a clipping point on a track going over 100 mph and the sand trap prevented me from destroying my car and myself. Also you wear a helmet on the track which again makes it way safer than driving too fast in the street.

I wasn't quoting the story... I was talking in reference to ImJoey's post.

I'd be surprised if you've never driven your car on the highway and never been going a 100 miles an hour and never switched lanes to avoid a car. either one of those could kill you, yet I'd guarantee 95% of all evo owners have done em all.

On a serious note,

R.I.P.
