Just purchased an 06 Evo IX today, Im the 2nd owner, it only has 21k miles on it. About how much warranty do I have left, and what does remainder of the warranty cover?

take it to the dealership closest to you and ask them for a sheet with all your warranty information...i doubt many people on here will be able to tell you exactly what is still covered on your car...good luck. and congrats on the purchase!

 

Second owner on mine aswell. the warrenty goes by the date of original purchase and does transfer with the car. Mine was a 5 year or 60,000 mile. So i have either till 2011 or if 60k comes first (which i doubt)

 

From what i was told, the powertrain warranty doesn't transfer after the original owner.

Okay, as far as getting warranty work on major components, is Mitsubishi pretty lenient or really strict with our cars? Im a tech myself and we are pretty lenient as far as doing warranty work.

This is what I got from the warranty manual on the powertrain warranty.

Note: Applies only to the original owners of new, retailed vehicles.
Subsequent owners receive 5 years/60,000 mile coverage.

 

mitsu and warranty doesn't go together. Put it this way, I have my warranty still but I have no plans to even attempt getting any potential warranty work done.

 

You're a Mitsu tech? You should know that driving off the lot voids your warranty.

Mines in getting tranny rebuilt covered by warrenty..... So i know that it transfered with the car...... Its been a hassle and a very long time but its getting done.

 

In therory susequent owners get the remainder of 5yr 60k powertrain. 10yr 100k is only for the origional owner

I bought a 06 ix with 21K back in may, and the 5yr/60K is what I had so I would think yours would be the same. The only thing that doesn't transfer is the 100K warranty.

 

Yep, Ruff Ryda is right on the money. The 5-year 60k transfers from the original date of purchase -- the 10-year/100k don't.
