I can't believe this! (warranty)
I'm sure alot of you have read my previous posts about my clutch going out at 3200 miles and then my trans going out at 3900.
Anyway...I bought my car on april 29th and so far the car has been in the shop for 3 months! I was supposed to have picked it up yesterday from the transfer case problem but they put the car together and took it for a test drive what do ya know it's still making noises so they have to take it all back apart again. They told me it will be another week at LEAST! They don't even know what was wrong with it. Oh by the way they did decide to cover me under warranty. I took 6 weeks of arguing with them. So 4 months ownership 3 months at the shop, are you kidding me Mitsubishi?
AND then last night I met a fellow Evo owner he is having strange noises coming from under his car we went for a ride and it sounds to me like a throw out bearing.....hope I'm wrong for his sake!
For all you people out there who think the problem is the driver and this car is all great and mighty....I have news for you this thing is a pile of crap! Mitsubishi dumped a huge problem in our laps and are sitting back taking in the money and doing nothing to help us. They gave us a weak clutch, they gave us a weak trans, and are being *****es about us wanting our warranty honored. So what if we race them is that not how they are billed "a rally car in street clothing", "refined not tamed". Those are just 2 examples of them advertising this thing as a "race" car.
Oh and by the way my car was in no way abused.
I am really getting tired of holier than thou people saying all this about, "the fast and furious" types and how everything is the owners fault. If you aren't having problems that is GREAT but it is just a matter of time till you do. I honestly envy the people who aren't having any problems, sure wish I was one of them.
I know I will never buy another Mitsu****ty and will recommend noone I know does either. If anyone is going to start a class action lawsuit count me in!

I had my car on the track this Saturday and Sunday in 95+ heat and had *0* problems with it. Never got hot, never had break problems, all I did was add the air guids, and change the fluid and pads. Also I was getting over 100 in 3 places on the track and stopping form 105 to 40 at the 1.5 marker so in about 150 feet. This car is unreal as well as the stock tires are great. I was KILLING the new m3's out there and was running with one that had slicks! This care is great! Yes you do have to take care of it but in the long run it's worth it!
I love how poeple think that just because they have a problem, everyone else is having one.
If you are having a real problem with your car, that was not caused by anything you did, or didn't do, I'm sorry for your problems. However, there are thousands of satisifed people out there happy with their car.
It is most definitely not a pile of junk.

ok thats fair but out of three people I know that own one me being one of them all 3 are having drivetrain problems. Me with all the problems I have posted a good friend getting his trans changed at 4000 miles and another friend whom looks like it's gonna be throw out bearing. Seen 2 other Evo's in Vegas with clutches burt out as well. That is alot of problems, on a car that has limited production numbers.

Do you know ANYONE who has 36,000 miles on their EVO yet? Didn't think so...therefore you have no right to make a claim to who is NOT having warranty issues because all EVOs are still in their warranty period and could fail at any point.
Come back and tell us they aren't a pile of junk when 90% of the cars OVER 36,000 miles got there with relatively no problems.
StriktlyBidness, it sure seems to me that you are making a point to bash and hate those evo owners that are not having problems... you keep telling them not to give their 2cents worth... because they don't have 36,000 miles on their car. We all feel bad and agree that those of you that have had problems got screwed...but honestly... Tons of car...(not just Mitsu) have warrenty problems right off the lot. That is why alot of people don't by "Brand new". To get back to my point here, don't tell people that they can't be happy with their car because they don't have the milage on the car all they are saying is that up to now...they have had no problems and the love their evo... And unless your the "mighty all knowing" then you can't be sure that they will have problems!
Just my 2cents. and trust me... it's not even worth that...lol....

I have 11,000 miles on my EVO (in the 3 months I've owned it) and have not even had one problem so far. The clutch works perfectly, nothing has broken or given me any problems at all. I will likely hit 36,000 miles by next spring.
The car has driven me from the Pacific shores of California to Florida's east Atlantic coast, and it is my DAILY DRIVER also.
Compare this to my 2002 Z28, which was in the shop 3 times in the first 3 months of ownership (bought new). The service was so horrible (the idiot mechanics made the problems WORSE) in those first 3 months that I gave up taking the car back and fixed things out of my own pocket and in my own garage rather than risk dealer idiots trying to fix it for free.
You could also compare that to my 1995 Z28 which was in the shop AT LEAST once a month for the first 6 months of ownership (again, bought new). Everything that could break on that car did. This was the most unrealiable car I have ever owned.
Even with your clutch and tranny problems, I'd still say your EVO was a much better car than my '95 Z28!!

I thought my car has too many miles on her for her age (4 months old, 4300 miles). 3 months old w/ 11K on the clock. Course driving from one coast to the other definitely didn't help. How many miles do some of you other people have and what is the age on your Evo?
I had my evolution for two weeks and put 1,200 miles on it and developed a grind shifting from 4th to 5th... no abuse at all.. all highway driving.. car was in the shop for 15days so i was without the car as long as i had the car to begin with.

This pisses me off. A guy I work with has an RSX type S. In it's first 36,000 miles, it has gone through 1 transmission and 2 engines, all replaced under warranty. You should see this car, it has everything done. Not much is stock on it. the first engine went when it was launched at the track with a 150 shot. the second engine died when launched with a 75 shot. The piston welded itself to the sparkplug. The transmision, through all of this, stripped 6 teeth off of second gear, ate a couple of syncros and was replaced.
But if I sneeze to hard on my Evo, they void the warranty. I don't get it.

Just think if it were, you'd be braking after the last marker at 100mph!
But then again your cars weighs almost 3x what a formula one car does, without the downforce and not making the 850hp they do.
