EVO IS FASTER, handles better, and is a raw race car, It'll **** on anything the 330 trys to do.

Luxury sport or all out race car, tough choice
Pretty damn well said.

The other thing is I'd be getting out of the lease and into a real purchase, which is good for my sanity. I am constantly worried about dings/mileage.

Plus it's not like I can't go back to a 3'er right? It just wouldn't be my baby though that I have now.

OK that sounds more plausible. Plus I noticed no folding mirror control switches.

The dealer service is an interesting point. I don't know how they handle things, but the bimmer dealerships are all about customer satisfaction. They are seriously hardcore about it. It would bother me but I'm not even sure if I'll be taking it in for any major warranty work anyhow (should I go the modification route). Not that I'm scared, it just might be easier to do it some other way (yourself?).
Not only has the service at my Acura dealership been great, I have become friends with one of the master techs and he does my mods and such off-the-clock. Any work that needs to be done now that my warranty is up, he can do for me on the side with his "cost" on parts instead of retail and his off-clock labor rate.

I'm giving up a lot to leave such a great situation, but again Acura doesn't have any performance cars below the NSX and I'm looking for a turbo car more than anything else right now. Plus I might be moving by the end of the year and if that happens I lose the benefit of buying an Acura anyway.

You should head on back over, the PL is alive and kickin as usual.

Yeah I'm in the same research mode still, but as you can see I am severely itching for one of these things. Earliest I could have my blue evo would be next Wednesday.

Perhaps more than you know.

Read the lease termination clause slowly. Several times.

Before buying my EVO, I looked into leasing a 330Xi, because local dealers aren't very good at service. The theory was that, if the BMW dealer messes up the service, I just walk away.

It doesn't work out that way. The lease termination clause in the contract was so convoluted that I called BMW USA to ask about it.

They laughed.

A BMW lease is a bit like being an Alabama field hand before the civil war. Or like a divorce settlement in California.

There are a lot of web sites devoted to lease transfers, because if you don't transfer it to someone else, you're pretty much stuck with the remaining payments, whether you have the car or not.

I hope you like seafood, because there doesn't seem to be any way to end a BMW lease early without getting scrod.

Yes leases are hard to exit, but not in this case. Even though it's a lease, there is still a payoff since the car has been essentially financed by the finance company (hence why they hold the title/etc. in NY). That payoff right now would be covered by the trade-in plus some roll-over cash applied to my evo cost. No biggie, plus I might even squeeze some cash out of BMW for mileage I didn't use.
