ok winter is coming so i just got a set of blizzak ws 60's and my next step with performance is cams and headstuds with a retune cost = 1100 approx. or should i get the COBB ACCESSPORT AP-MIT-001. cost approx = 700, or should i just wait to spend my money till next spring...???? cuz i cant be racing with these tires on....

 

list of your mods so far? then we can go from there. you happen to live in the best place to own an evo.

 

mods are good i went to ams and told em the list and they suggested the cams and headstuds, but im thinkin wait till next spring to be able to f*ck around with that kind of power, and just go with some engine managment

 

your car with cams will never run as good as a stock car. no matter what anyone says. if you don't care get the cams. next you will want a turbo kit and then next you will run race gas all the time like me. forget the cobb computer. just go with the stock ecu then go with the ems.

 

so what your saying pretty much is no cams no cobb just ems...

 

With winter coming up, I'm saving up for cams + supporting mods/retune/ and also ic pipes/fmic package. I could save up and do the cams and retune during the winter but I rather just wait till spring to get everything purchased, installed, and then get tune.

 

Car runs perfect with cams as long as you get it tuned. Hence the reason so many people do it. Also I would stick with stock ecu I have a htagt35r setup and am using the stock ecu.

 

Wow what are you people talking about. Car will run perfect with cams as long as it's tuned right. That's a good power mod as well as wfp, and all your air mods.

Ems is good but kinda too early for all that imo

 

DO NOT get anything cobb for ur evo. cobb is for subaru's. expecially not the access port. The evo's stock ecu is good for well up into the 500hp range. If any computer change is desired id suggest going aem ems but thats not till u have built motor and big turbo.

cams r good. turbo upgrade is good. fmic, fuel pump, injectors, boost controler, boost gauge, exhaust, intake, suspension (lower). Those should be what you should consider for now

 

so what im gonna do is get the tomei 272's and the arp headstuds this guy i know is selling the cams for 450 with about 3000 miles on em...good deal???

 

Yea Access Port for the EVO VIII and IX is a paper weight. With stock ECU Mods and Software out now.
