SHOULD I? Evo IX MR trade for an S2000 ???
Evo, I only drove one S2000 and it was an 06, stock nothing much, but damn, that thing was a DOG, S.L.O.W.
Plus it is true, what happens when you want to use your car for something usefull, like, anything. You have NO room.
Plus you dont want to have to wait 2 1/2 minutes for the line of traffic to pass you in the lane next to you, before you get stuck behind that smelly old 72 chevy pick up in front of you doing 48 in a 60, you wanna hit some boost and get over.
At least thats me.
After loads of money the S2k may be "fun" to drive but practicality is what its about...and fun.

ya.
ok everyone is "boost this, boost that" put a damn turbo on the s2k. an f22c is a WAY capable motor. very strong stock. My evo is damn quick and all, but my friends s2k costed him $12,000 and he added $10,000 in parts and he is still less then my car costed stock. volks, inline pro boost kit with gt35r, hard top, reset cage, widebody, seats, practically everything. and his car ****S!!! on mine.
moral of the story. Im selling my evo for $25,000 and buying an s2k with 20k miles for $15,000 and boosting it.

okay, I'll admit that a boosted s2k is wicked fast and I have seen one on the fly(boosted). But, like a lot of the members here are saying, practicality plays a major role also. It does look nice coming from the honda family but considering it a two-seater, no trunk space and you can forget about it once there's some snow on the ground let alone rain. It's just not practical and more for weekender. If I had the income for another car, it would probably by the s2000 but trading an evo for s2k? no way..just my .02
I think it is really lame to sum up a car's performance based on some high way straight line racing. The s2k does decent on tracks although not quite as fast as an evo, and it is stinkin fast on auto-x courses. Also it is pretty damn fun at doing so.
IMO turbocharging an s2k without doing any work on other aspect is not a good idea. Sure the engine can handle, and the car will go like stink in straight but you can't launch because the rear axles and differential can't handle the newfound torque, same for clutch, gears and tcase. Also it would be extremely twitchy on a road course.
I did groceries with an s2k regularly before, and it is fine as long as no one else is sitting in the car, and although the trunk layout is crap, you can stuff quite a bit into it. If you use winter tires, it drives better in the snow than an evo with summer tires, the heater works really well, although I still don't recommend driving it in the winters.
If speed and modding value is your only concern, there is no question on evo as the choice. If you are shopping for your only car that needs to meet practicality in many ways while providing enough fun and performance, evo is still the easy choice of the two as well. But if fun is the only concern, I'd be torn choosing from the two cars.
If you think the s2000 is 'DOG S.L.O.W' and 'all show and no go', I suggest you to come here and have some of my s2k friends take you for a spin in some of the mountain passes, you may reconsider your thoughts.

Echoing what other folks have said, these are *very* different cars. But you also said you "love" the S2K, so can't argue with that. Personally I think you should do a conditional or temporary trade, say for 2 weeks. That way you both get to see what the experience is like. The S2K is nice, no doubt, but on this board, I think you'll be hard pressed to find folks telling you to jump.
Both are great cars and both different in their own respects. I like both but would always lean towards the evo. Great all around car. My bro just totaled his 350Z and was considering an S2000 to replace the Z. After driving a few an test driving an S2000 and then an EVO, his mind was made up. We just picked up a lightly modded EVO VIII yesterday. He's lovin it! AWD FTW!

or youll regret it.. no room or torque for the fat chicks
