accidental 87 oct fuel
i agree when i bought my evo in july this year i had to drive 22 hours back to LA. the dealer(toyota) told me lol it uses 87. so i filled up with basically 2 tanks of that stuff. Pushing it all way down to the house that long . average like 70mph. Gunned it alittle. then i realized after reading the door lol its 93 octane all i did was buy some fuel injector cleaner and place it in there for the next two tanks. EVO IS FINE. took it to the dealer(mitsu) to verfiy and they said its cool. fast forward to now its fine. SO YOU SOULD BE OK. dont think it really matters but mine was stock minus a downpipe is all
let me share a little story with you about crappy gas.
i was on my way out to see my girlfriend at college and filled up at a sheetz (i know they sell garbage gas, but i was in the middle of nowhere so i had no choice. got their 93 octane).
well later that night after i got to her apartment i decided to go do some logging. hit the highway on ramp and got on it. first thing i noticed was the car pulled timing all over the place, the second thing i noticed was an ungodly ping/crunch sound coming from the area of cyl 4.
went back to her house and checked my logs, i pegged the knock sensor at 36 counts on that pull. yikes.
so i drove like a grandma until i ran that tank out, filled it up at shell (i swear their gas is magic) and never gave it a second thought. the car is fine.
now i wouldn't recommend pushing your luck with it, so drive reasonably, but the moral of the story is, there is a reason why we have a knock sensor.

u can siphon it if u put a relay switch where the fuel pump relay fuse is (if it has one) and run it dry
i had to drain the gas tank in my dads chevy lumina to change the fuel pump and we had to drop the tank..so i put a relay switch in the relay fuse and drained it all out of the feed lines..im sure u can do this on your evo too.

I'd add the octane boost too, or drive it easy. My sport bike had crappy unleaded in it from the dealer. Rode it home on a 90 degree day and heard some pinging from the engine. That bike hasn't seen anything but super since then. Different animal than an evo, but says a lot about at least our gas here in Oregon. At least we can pump our own into a bike, not in cars yet.
what is it with you guys that keep recommending octane booster?? maybe you have skipped everyone elses comments bout octane booster does nothing or you just dont know but anyway i have read a label on one of those products and it clearly stated. 8 bottles are equal to 1 octane extra....so if thats the case hes gonna need a few cases of octane booster lol
these threads are really starting to get embarrasing. how old are you?? i think if you make a thread like this then you shouldnt even have an evo.! question... in the event of a flat would you have the slightest idea what to do??
