running car with some extras with no tune

ok, so i finally picked up my 05 evoMR! woohoo! this was several weeks ago. i got it at a dealer. to make a long store short, 2nd day i found out it had blown headgasket and a some other stuff wrong with it after we got in there. apparently, some 16 year old dumbass, spoiled azn got this car brand new and started drag racing it, had prolly 450 hp on stock motor. putting stuff back to stock for the trade in he did a shafty job.

ANYWAY, this isnt the point of the thread.

basically my car has arp headstuds, metal headgasket, 9 bov, 272 cams, cam gears, and thats basically it, i had to put a diff turbo housing on), i got the 10.5 hotside but its the double flapper instead of the single.(because when putting it back to stock he used 9.8)

anyway i found the kid online and he said that he put a stock tune on it.

which it does have the two step so maybe this could actually be true.

my question is, should i be running around without a tune? is this going to cause problems? Please advise, im just not sure because of the cams and such.

any info that can be shed would be awesome.

thank you in advance.

you should get it tuned ASAP with those mods on a stock tune. Just don't go into boost and get tuned

I wouldn't beat on the car...you could drive it temporarily if you want to get finances together for some more parts and a tune

boost gauge? usually when people go back to stock they fubar the solenoid lines and the car runs at wastegate boost

all i have is the stock MR boost gauge. seems to be boosting ok. if 1 bar= 14.75 and im boosting in between 1-1.5 bar then seems ok because stock boost is peak at 20.5 and level off at 17 as i understand it.

Get an exhaust, drop in k&n panel filter and a tune.. Also, I would have someone give it a one over to make sure the compression ratio is good along with the drivetrain, etc.

It has had its once over. The headgasket has been fixed with the metal headgasket, i got arp headstuds in, we fixed all the wrong and missed nuts and bolts, fixed the turbo house, did a new water pump, kevlar timing and balance shaft belt, resurfaced head, resurfaced intake and exhaust manifold. compression tested.

Drivetrain wasnt really checked, kid said it had a vanguard stage 2 clutch good for 400hp and it had a rebuilt tranny, both done about 8k ago.

so that is where my car is at. is running around with a stock tune that bad?

Can someone give me an explanation as to what could go wrong or why its not recommended.

lame question but what kinda hp should i see out of this setup wih a 255 pump and exhaust-catback with hi flow cat preferably. just wondering because im not sure where it would be sitting.

Thanks.

im just worried about the stock tune with my mix match of parts that were left on or upgraded at the time of Fixing the headgasket.
