gauge pod install question

I just purchased a gauge pod from lancershop.com ( http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...&cat=22&page=1) and i thought this was a direct replacement? I went to put it on and it just didn't seem like it wanted to fit. Do i have to do some trimming or does it somehow fit over the OEM one? Do i have to screw it into the A pillar itself with the screws provided? I also got mine with the tweeter cut out how do i put the plastic mesh grill on the new one without breaking it off the original one? Anyone that has this or has installed one please chime in
thanx

That is mis-information on the website. It fits over the stock pillar. You can heat up the plastic welds that are holding on the tweeter cover. Then you can attach it to the POD pillar with two part epoxy.

This is a picture of my install...

cssaddictm4 did you have to trim anything off the pod to make it fit properly? Do you have a picture of the inside of your car so i can see how u mounted it?

I really wish you would have done some research on Lancershop's a-pillar gauge pod. You would have seen the numerous negative posts (including mine) on their products.

I didn't have to trim anything at all. Unfortunately I do not have many good close ups of the actual pod. This is the best picture I could come up with for now.

The Autometer (which I have) seems to be the nicest.

Don't mind my radar detector power wire there; I've since tucked it in.

Although not visible in the pictures, it does have a tweeter cut-out.

Did you paint your pillars black yourself?

The Autometer one seems to be the best. I bought the one from Lancershop and it came to me cracked and the paint job looked like crap. It took me forever to get my refund back from them as well. I know there are people that have had good experiences with Lancershop and I used to be one of them but after being burned more than once from them I will never buy anything else from them.

+3 on the autometer pod. I just installed mine. I would go as far to say it's the closest to perfect fit. If you really hold/press it onto your stock pillar when you drill the holes for the plastic snaps, it looks stock installed. I painted the tweeter grills flat black. It looks like the car came with the pillars. Just use a good plastic primer.

The Autometer pillar comes black so you can either paint it gray to match stock or do like I did and paint the passenger pillar black to match the Autometer. I personally like the look of black pillars much better.
