Bumper Material

Anybody know the type of plastic the front bumper of an IX is made of???

Seems like an Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene compound cause it sucks. I had someone back into me about a year ago, barely hit the bumper and it cracked. Didn't even scuff the paint.

i crashed my bumper my bumper pretty hard and it didnt crack.

OEM should be poly urethene.

lmao polyurethene is not fiberglass.

It's pretty good in terms of strength. I had a poly-u lip and it went through hell and still looked new

If it is a polyurethane, it's stiff as hell. Come to think if it, it was in the dead of winter when mine got hit. Temp could have had a lot to do with it cracking.

Come to think of it, it might tell you what it's made of on the inside of the bumper skin. Most do.

It's listed on the inside. I can't remember but i think it's Polypropylene, not urethane.

The '03 body repair manual says:

"Talc filled rubber modified polypropylene"

which is abbreviated as: "PP+E/P- TD(HMPP)"
